ORLANDO, Fla. (WKMG/CNN) Kaia Rolle is like most little girls.
She loves the color pink and has a cheery outlook on life.
But after what her grandmother says happened on Thursday, the bubbly 6-year-old has little room to focus on school. Meralyn Kirkland got a call from a school resource officer saying Kaia was arrested.
What do you mean she was arrested? Kirkland remembered asking the officer. He said, There was an incident and she kicked somebody and she is being charged and she is on her way.
Kirkland said her granddaughters journey to the juvenile detention center by Orlando police officers began at Lucious and Emma Dixon Elementary Charter School.
She is arrested and she has a charge, Kirkland explained. She is charged with battery.
The disorienting chaos was too much for Kirkland to process.
She has a medical condition that we are working on getting resolved. And he says, What medical condition? Kirkland said of her conversation with the officer. She has a sleep disorder, sleep apnea. And he says, Well, I have sleep apnea and I dont behave like that.
The first-grader was handcuffed and carted off where the grandmother says she was fingerprinted and even had a mug shot taken.
They told us we had to wait a few minutes because Kaia was being fingerprinted, Kirkland said. And when she said fingerprinted, it hit me like a ton of bricks. No 6-year-old child should be able to tell somebody that they had handcuffs on them and they were riding in the back of a police car and taken to a juvenile center to be fingerprinted, mug shot
Kaia was still equally as upset, but happy to be home.
I felt sad that my grandma was sad, and I really missed her, Kaia said.

Poor baby. Who arrests a kid? So there was no other way to take care of the problem?
Another way to take care of it? I guess you could call her mom and dad and make them come get her... but that isn’t likely to happen.
I have never heard of anything so insane.
Why didn’t they just sit her down in the Principal’s office?
There have been a few news stories recently, where elementary school aged kids, have been arrested.
Are there discipline problems beyond the ability of the principal and parents to handle,? Even so, at such young ages do we really need the police?
“Don’t you ever! Ever! Paddle my perfect little princess!
“Okay”
“Officer, we have a delinquent down here assaulting the students.”
“Sergeant, go down to the school and bring back another violent little snot nose.”
“Clink”
Was Glenn Beck throwing chalk again?
Some incredibly stupid people are involved with this case
The liberals have removed any other possible way to deal with a problem..
Zero-tolerance, zero-intelligence one-size-fits-all discipline.

I betcha she isn’t......
And they are the parents, the voters, the schoolboard, and the judges.
And this one runs loose?
People asked for police in their schools. What did they think police do? They are not our friends, social workers, psychiatrists, therapists, or guidance counselors. They are simplistic by design law enforcement officers. What part of “enforce” remains a puzzle to everyone?
I betcha she isn't either. I'm guessing this incident was the last straw in a long list of misbehaviors.
There isn't the slightest chance that any of my children at any age, least of all six, would dream of kicking a grownup.
"Most little girls" indeed. And the "loves" pink is suspect as well, like the writer is trying to exaggerate her little girlness. Likes pink, okay. Loves?
Since “grandma” is the only one mentioned, I assume it’s just another great family unit in the minority population.
I did a bit of kicking, hitting, and pinching hitting at that age, I am so glad I grew up in a time of common sense and my childish behavior was dealt without acquiring a police record. Poor little girl. I hope the judge has some common sense.
The kid that got kicked would have pushed the girl down on her butt and that would have been the end of it.
The kid that got kicked would have run crying to the teacher and the girl would have been sent to the principals office and got a couple whacks with the paddle.
Parents probably would never know about the incident.
But our litigious society has made these two resolutions to the problem impossible.
Totally outrageous, especially his retort back that he has sleep apnea and he doesn’t act that way. I sure would hope so, however, I want proof. I want to talk to everyone he has interfaced with to see if his alibi holds up.
