Tempers flare as millions in California endure power outages from PG&E
LA Times ^ | October 10. 2019 | Taryn Luna, Maria L. La Ganga, Patrick McGreevy, Joseph Serna

Classes were canceled. Frozen foods melted. Hospitals switched to emergency generators. Blooms withered in florists’ coolers. Unused food was jettisoned at shuttered restaurants. Lines formed at gas stations. Cellphones faded out. That’s what happened Wednesday when the state’s largest utility shut off power to millions of Californians in a drastic attempt to avoid the killer wildfires that have charred hundreds of thousands of acres, caused billions of dollars in damage and spurred cries for widespread change in how electricity is delivered over the state’s aging grid.

So what are they doing about the schools with these power outages, having the kids stay home?”””

Yes-— cannot run a school with dark corners & no poer to run the mandatory computers they all have. They don’t read books anymore.

Parents cannot ‘go to work’ either....no power-—no power to run gas station to purchase more gas-—no power, period.

Friend lives in Nevada County. Power off for over 36 hours a couple of weeks ago.

No street lights. NO SALES EXCEPT FOR CASH. No bank open. School shut down. No offices open. No grocery store open. Local bars not open.....and on & on.

It is more than a little appalling that CA is the land of crazies that welcomes invaders with open arms. Meanwhile, they can’t even keep the electricity going for its residents.

Yup, I live in Grants Pass and in the last 35 years here I have seen this area turn into Cali-lite, and soon we’ll see insane gun control measures in the ballot and cap-and-trade policies that will bankrupt us.

Idaho is looking nicer and nicer!

Sadly, these days you could post that on the Babylon Bee and still need the sarcasm tag.

What needs to happen is for the state to take over PG&E and run it themselves. </do I really need a sarcasm tag?>

You wouldn't believe how many people here around Sacramento actually believe that is the answer ...

Fires human in origin:

Not with lots of forest/wooded land & high winds. Trees come down across power lines. Branches the same. Winds cannot be controlled. Then fires cannot be controlled.

When I lived in Grass Valley, in Nevada County, the sound of the ‘scout planes’ would bring us out of the house to see the direction they ere heading. Then, the Borade Bombers were following-—and we had to make judgements about loading horses & getting out of the foothills.

A couple of large fires had the Nevada County Fairgrounds & Yuba County Fairgrounds filled in no time. Calls went out for donations of halters—lead ropes—hay—buckets & persons to attend to the influx of horses & other critters.

since the paradise fire, PG&E has not been clearing trees away from power lines. Their solution, turn the power off when it’s windy.

Gov Nuisance, too busy stealing gas tax money for other purposes and canceling the sentence of violent murderers.

Was there a run on grocery stores for food staples or for ammo anywhere but Dick’s?

I'm going to find out from my friends down there when they get back online. I think the answer is, if there wasn't, there will be next time. And there will be a next time.

The Commies -In-Charge are truly geniuses (NO /sarc). They slowly drove the Utilities into bankruptcy and through legislation doomed them to failure. Now they will blame the utilities and all the angry eco-lemmings will DEMAND a state takeover of the utilities. The Government grows yet again! And while the “suffering” continues, there will be tons of new “green legislation” requiring everyone to install solar in their homes. Another win! Who can deny these people are (evil) geniuses?

Prepper ping - Using Prepping as a Political Movement and Motivator
or
What to expect from the Green New Deal (c/o the AOC Progressive movement

(From an earlier article)" Pacific Gas & Electric Co. shut down power to 500,000 homes and business – an estimated 2-million-plus Northern California residents – creating the largest blackout in state history.
The move, designed as a massive defensive tactic to avoid wildfires amid high winds,
created confusion, consternation and angry responses from both the public and public officials."

This is a contrived, man-made defensive tactic by a public utility to protect the company,
it's financial assets, and the public "be damned" attitude;
incidentally, expect higher utility rates.
According to Fox Business today, stock in Generac (Electrical Generators) has raised by more than 2% today, alone.
Officially, this contrived 'power outage' directly affects 800,000 homes and businesses,
and will result in substantial income loss to the State coffers as well as customer personal loss (refrigeration).
Imagine on a larger scale gasoline sales, water and sewage pumps, cellphone, computers, and communication devices rendered inoperative.

Use this incident as a learning experience to benefit the uninformed as to what to expect
from the Progressive Green New Deal advocated by the Democrat Party.
All of a sudden, the reality of having a similar Venezuela cascading financial effect here in this country
isn't all that far away, and demonstrates the extent to how much we depend on reliable electricity.

Incidentally, if you are in the affected area, and had prepped and already have a generator,
be prepared to defend it, and/or share it, along with fuel supplies.
When parts of civilized society break down, people have been known to get "Wonkey".

Yeah, I would.

Confession: I used to live in the loonie bin known as Los Angeles County. I wasn't there long, just a year and a half. But I did find a woman desperate enough to marry me.

Some years later, when I got a job offer to move back at triple my salary at the time she told me "Don't even THINK about it!"

My heart goes out to them. I wish people would remember that. And the largest single portion of FR money comes from California.

Those affected should file an emergency lawsuit to stop this based upon discrimination. Even their power is out the whole state's should be. Those courts seem to be able to move quickly when they want to.

LA County just had to wipe 1.5 million off their voter rolls thanks to Tom Fitton. Then read about the DMV scandal that put close to a million illegals on the voter rolls. The people of CA, New York, and the rest of the Blue States are filled with voter fraud; not by choice."

And (with few exceptions) no one does anything about it. Republicans are mostly silent. The Democrat party is a criminal enterprise.

Participating in voter fraud needs to have serious consequences attached to it (mandatory jail time). Otherwise it's going to keep happening.
