Texas company removes murder suspect's GPS monitor due to unpaid fees without telling authorities

A capital murder suspect in Texas had a court-ordered ankle monitor removed by the device's operators because the company reportedly said he didn't pay them a monitoring fee to wear the tracker.

Clint Walker, 27, is accused of fatally shooting a man during a November 2016 robbery gone awry. Several months ago, Walker was released on a $100,000 surety bond and ordered to wear the GPS monitor, provided by a company called Guarding Public Safety.

But Walker, according to KHOU, "failed to pay the company his monthly monitoring fee" that was reportedly a condition of his bond, and therefore the company removed the device — leaving authorities unable to track the murder suspect.

So really. Who is the biggest idiot?

A court that would let a murderer out on bail? Or some Mom and Pop operation that took the ankle monitor off?

Genuinely stupid. Let a murder suspect out on bail knowing he was to be responsible to charge the battery of his monitoring device as well responsible to pay the monitoring fee.

The judge had to have been a Democrat.

It looks like they billed the perp directly. There are probably a lot of people reading this who paid their monitoring fees and are now feeling like suckers.

If a court or agency required a monitor they should pay for it. Ostensibly, the reason for the monitor is to save the court or law enforcement agency the cost of room and board or because they don’t have room available. There is a Darwin Award possibility here.

Dangerous idiots.

If the guy didn’t pay the fee, they should have reported it to the police, who would have made some arrangements, not take off monitoring of a dangerous murderer.

“...accused of fatally shooting a man during a November 2016 robbery gone awry.”

The “gone awry” phrase bothers me. Almost makes it sounds like he had little to do with it. You know, sometimes robberies go awry and people end up dead.

If a court or agency required a monitor they should pay for it. Ostensibly, the reason for the monitor is to save the court or law enforcement agency the cost of room and board or because they don’t have room available. ,

The proper way for this to go is that the monitoring company reports to the court that they have not been paid.

The court then informs the Sherif of the violation of the bail conditions and orders the arrest of the suspect.

The Sheriff makes the arrest and informs the monitoring company that they can remove the monitoring device.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said the company sent
“a representative to physically remove his ankle monitor” on
Sept. 19, and Walker wasn’t re-arrested until Oct. 2, according
to jail records, which meant he was not monitored for a nearly
two-week period.

This is a case where the Chief Operating Officer or President of the company gets to a war a monitor for a year after spending six months in the pokie for criminal negligence.

So many layers of stupid to this story that I can’t quite comprehend it.

Starting with the question of why is a man who stands accused of murdering in cold blood a security guard during a botched robbery allowed to walk around freely wearing an ankle bracelet?

IN TEXAS!
