I have a family of Harris's Hawks that are living in my yard. Bonus! They eat rattlesnakes. Haven't seen one since they moved in.

A pitbull pup died last week tangling with a coral snake. Wonder how the cat did it without getting bit? I know cats are silent stalkers, but rattlers rest on a hair-trigger.

“Shelly, his adopted shelter cat.”

Great. Good, brave cat.

The guy saved the cat’s life by adopting it, now the cat saved his life.

That cat’s not dumb, it knew if that snake killed its owner, he would have ended up out in the street again or back at the animal shelter. Besides, it’s just a matter of time before the cat decides to smother the old guy in his sleep then eat him.........

Perhaps the Lord brought the cat into the situation but I’m sure the cat acted out of hunting instincts rather than any protective instincts.

And for the few folks who haven’t seen it, here’s the video of a cat saving a small boy from a dog attack.

Copperhead snake bites usually are not lethal but can make a person very sick.

Cat probably killed it outside and brought it in.

Thanks! Plus it is nice that the gentleman’s daughter also likes Shelly, the kitty. He may very well leave this earth before the kitty, so it will likely be taken care of if that is the case.

Shelly, you paid your dues. Kudos, kitty!

I have seen bobcats with dead snakes in their mouths while I was hunting/in the woods.

When I lived on the farm, the cats always were bringing snakes and other things to the front steps.

One of the cats came home with half its head swelled up. Crushed up some benadryl and mixed with cheese. Cat healed up. Never knew if it was a snakebite or something like a wasp sting.

My first rescue kitty healed my heart after a 4 month breakup with my boyfriend (who is now my husband of nearly 30 years). The circumstances of how I found her can only be explained as divine “intervention”. We had her for 15 years and when she died, we were heartbroken. Within a few weeks, we got another kitty and she healed our hearts again together. Just had to say goodbye to her after 16 1/2 years last month. Fortunately, we have another one who is now the recipient of ALL our love. He’s 9 and we’ve had him since he was 10 weeks old. These precious creatures are God’s gifts to us and we are their caretakers.

Interesting timing for me.

My younger cat keep sitting in front of my stove patiently the last two days.

Then about 2 am it had caught a baby mouse and was making alot of noise killing it (cats torture what they kill).

Then it caught a second mouse (larger) about two hours later.

I feel bad about taking the mice from the cat and flushing them down the toilet, but I was able to get to sleep...

My two cats do warn me about things, and I try to pay attention...

Adopted cats know and remember the kindness shown them. We have a new one who came to us in a terrible stormy period. We have figured out that he was abandoned when the people in the rent house down the road were forced to leave after not paying their rent (verified by the landlord today). That was four months ago. He was on his own in the relative wild foraging for about three months and he showed it. Fur matted, tail full of burrs, eyes sunken, thin as a rail and soaked to the skin. After food, a trip to the vet and an nice place to stay he is a different cat that follows us around the place like a little dog. Homer has jointed our little family of refugees that protect our place from snakes and vermin.
