A hair stylist has revealed that we should only wash our hair once a week - and we can just use water to rinse it in between washes.
Paul Windle, owner of Windle London, reveals that if you wash your hair too much you get a rebound effect and the scalp keeps making more oil - therefore making it look and feel more greasy.
The top stylist also revealed that if our hair does feel dirty then a simple rinse with water can be just as effective as using a product, as shampoos and conditioners just loosen any dirt in the hair.
When you do come to washing your hair you should also note how much shampoo you're using: 'If it's not foamy enough, add more water, not more product and massage it in,' Paul said.
Paul, who has just launched a hair lab in the Lake district where all of Windle London's products are formulated, also revealed his other top tips to Femail around hair care, including what product ingredients we should avoid and how to talk to your hairdresser to avoid any hair disasters.

There is no “one size fits all” with shampooing.
For instance, black people do not produce as much scalp oil as white people, so frequent shampooing is not only unnecessary, it can cause dry skin problems.
When our little 3 year old granddaughter was just getting the hang of it on her potty training a few months ago, she was at our house, and she tore off ONE square of TP. I asked her why, and she said, “Mommy and Daddy said ‘don’t us so much’”. I laughed, had to ask them about it.
Should be ‘don’t USE so much’....
My Border collie/Sheltie’s coat gets silky-soft and shiney clean every time I walk him in the rain. People comment on how beautiful his coat is. I’ve never had to bathe him!
Also... I brush him Every day.
LOL!
Among the few advantages to living in the current age over the 19th century are modern medicine/dentistry and the improved respect for personal hygiene. Yes, I shower daily and no I don’t use shampoo. I keep my hair buzz cut. Warm water and soap meets all my needs.
Should we still rinse and repeat?
I see a lot of them with dreads and weaves constantly scratching
Now this I would be scared to do:

Dry skin.
As I said on the other hair thread -—— when I was a teen, aeons ago —— we girls only washed our hair every 2 to 4 weeks. Then the Musical “South Pacific” came out and the song “I’m gonna wash that man right outs my hair” was popular. We girls said that if she could wash her hair nightly — so frequently and didn’t ruin her hair in a long run musical —— why can’t we? So we did, and I did for years after.
What is this "rain"?
Then use an unscented body wash.
To be a bit more subtle or discreet, wear sweats everywhere, and sleep in them, too. I have seen guys out and about in sweats, and knew in my heart they’d slept in them the night before.
I work out 6-7 days a week. I’m washing my hair, thank you.
“Or better yet, use a good body wash.”
Cheap bar soap works well for me. Lasts a long time. Currently I use dial.
It's also why I prefer never to sit next to Europeans on long flights.
Maybe the ladies like your pheromes, but I have no interest in smelling your B.O.. Just saying....
