Sunday nights hostless Emmys on Fox was likely hoping to emulate the Oscars ratings success in cutting out an emcee.
However, according to preliminary Nielsen figures, the 2019 Emmys have gone the way of seemingly all awards shows in declining year on year.
Foxs broadcast posted a 5.7 rating and a 10 share in the overnight metered market ratings, which is down 23% on last years Monday night show on NBC and 30% below the preliminary rating for the 2017 ceremony which also aired on a Sunday night on CBS. The total viewership for TVs big night, as well as Sundays other fare, will be available later this morning.
Some of the big winners on Sunday night included Game of Thrones, which carried home the final award of the night for best Drama Series, and Fleabag, which nearly swept all of the comedy categories on its way to a surprisingly stellar night.
The show was up against formidable competition in Sunday Night Football on NBC. The Peacock aired a highly anticipated match up between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns, likely contributing in some part to the less than stellar Emmy figures. The Rams-Browns matchup topped the night in metered-market households with a 12.8 rating and a 23 share.
WOKE.
They’ll likely see the words “hit new low” every year until they get their heads out of their rumps and shut up and sing, act, whatever they do.
They don’t care how bad the ratings get, they’ll still do this every year.
Wonder how long it’s going to be before they realize they are merely Court Jesters, here for our entertainment?

Award show = Indoctrination opportunity
Ill pass, until they prove its ideologically neutral.
...than watching degenerates congratulating themselves on turning America into a garbage can.
Self-congratulatory, privileged circle-jerks just don’t have the appeal they once had. They should really give their awards to each other in an Indiana Ramada, like the real estate folks do.
Cancel it. Nobody cares who gets their inflated ego stroked.
I think part of the reason is that so many of the shows nominated for awards are not known to people. Too many options in streaming, and few buy all of them. Why watch an awards show when you have no shows or actors to root for?
As for Fleabag, the one streaming service I have is Amazon Prime, and I noticed it. I haven’t watched it, but I think now I’ll give it a try. Same with Marvelous Ms. whats-her-face. I haven’t watched them yet, because I read the premises of both and neither sound appealing.
Uh, yeah, because football enthusiasts would normally be watching the emmys.
How long is it going to take these loathsome creatures to understand we dont like them.
Did they have another aging actors show on last night? Who but the infirm in hospitals and those trapped in airports would watch such garbage?
All these celebrity Lookit Me shows are pure political rants, nothing about the show they won the award for.
The Rams vs Browns game was highly anticipated?
The reason isn’t tough to surmise. Sunday Night Football was in Cleveland.
How the Emmy’s used to be. Gorgeous Mitzi Gaynor presenting.

Any award coming from Hollywierd is now a joke (for N reasons, where N is a very large number).
As if anyone other than similar though-challenged folks actually give a shi...er...give an Obama..
