The novelist behind the Rambo series is waging war against his own creation.
Author David Morrell, who breathed life into Vietnam War vet and one-man wrecking crew John Rambo in his 1972 novel First Blood, is the latest critic to badmouth Sylvester Stallones newest film.
I agree with these Rambo: Last Blood reviews. This film is a mess, tweeted Morrell on Friday. Embarrassed to have my name associated with it.
Morrell stated he had initially been involved in the creation of Last Blood, which was to show a more impassioned Rambo; instead, Matthew Cirulnick completed the gory screenplay.
I felt degraded and dehumanized after I left the theater, the 76-year-old, Canadian-born writer told Newsweek. Instead of being soulful, this new movie lacks one. I felt I was less a human being for having seen it, and today thats an unfortunate message.

We are supposed to be anti NRA. How about we do away with all violent movies and video games. How about a government buyback? Hollywood should be asked this.
;^)
I’m glad I saw your link:
Now I want to see the film, instead of my usual, which is to never go to the theater.
More and more it seems that:
Low critic score/high fan score =
“GO SEE IT..!!”
Much like Rick James with MC Hammer, the indignation of artistic integrity vanishes with that first royalty check.
From the article:
Last Blood stars Stallone reprising Rambo for a fifth time as a vigilante hunting down Mexican brutes who kidnap his niece and force her into the sex trade.
Salon.com film critic Matthew Rozsa referred to Last Blood as a dramatized manifestation of the most notorious sentences from Donald Trumps presidential campaign announcement speech,
I havent seen it yet but given the track record of previous Rambo sequels, its probably not going to be that great even though its making the critics mad that the Cartels are depicted rightfully as vicious killers. Rocky was another series that they kept making unnecessary mediocre sequels in my opinion.
Saw it yesterday. It’s the best yet, by far.
Given the times we live in, with illegals and other south of the border scum causing serious problems (i.e., drugs and human trafficking), you’ll enjoy just a bit of nasty revenge for some of the worst of them.
I don’t go to the movies much, but I would have paid twice the asking price of the ticket and been satisfied.
You mean it was worse than “Stop or my Mom will shoot”?
A movie I’m going to watch on my 80” HD TV in the presence of my wonderful dogs when it comes to PPV.
If you're counting on a movie to make you feel MORE human, you should probably seek help. It's entertainment, not edification.
Top Gun sequel: Tom Cruise is back in the cockpit!
thanks for posting that link, good article, looking forward to watching the movie now.
Sounds like the only thing missed was Obummer and Gang running guns to the narco-terrorists in order to make the guns look bad and disarm Americans.
The film takes place more than 30 years after the original.
If he quit making unauthorized flybys Maverick could have retired as a four star admiral by now.
You remind me of a liberal. If you don't like someone's opinion you want them ostracized. Good job, First Amendment proponent.
Musn’t depict Mexican criminals in movies, and one most certainly should not shoot them.
That’s the essence of the the negative reviews. And it’s why I’m going to see it twice, even if it sucks.
And Rambo movies don’t suck.
I like his mushrooms.
I don’t see this movie doing 7 million on its first night with a 70 year old star without the political bashing of it.
I love Sly but I was figuring this would open with 1 or 2 million.
The plot sho1uld have been statists confiscating guns. But nobody could imagine that scenario.
