In light of the heavy backlash from fans and celebrities over rumors of a possible remake of The Princess Bride, What other movies stands on its on as a classic (those near perfect movies) that should not be bastardized in being redone?
1. Godfather 2. Back to the Future 3. Die Hard 4. Shawshank Redemption 5. Original Star Wars, especially Empire Strikes Back 6. Rocky

NONE of them should be remade.
The arrogance of some producers / directors who think they can do it better than the original is breathtaking.
Would an author re-write someone else’s book?

NONE of them should be remade. The arrogance of some producers / directors who think they can do it better than the original is breathtaking. Would an author re-write someone elses book?I heard they're considering a Princess Bride remake. Since it is impossible to improve upon that movie, it is clear that Hollywood is simply out of good writers, and they're seeking to make a buck off of copying originals, or in different formats of originals (Lion King live action etc), or in sequels and serials (Avengers, etc). The notion of "better than the original" is mere PR, trying to trap more audience. They're using the name and reputation of someone better to try to keep their careers going, that's all.

I loved Angels With Dirty Faces. I’ll watch it every time it’s on. There was a sequel titled “Angels Wash Their Faces,” which I saw only once. Ronald Reagan was in, as were The Dead End Kids.
I saw “Dead End” about a month ago for the 3rd or 4th time. IMO, the kids were the stars of the movie, even though none of them were listed in the opening credits.
Another decent Dead End Kids movie was “They Made Me a Criminal,” starring John Garfield.
