TULSA, Oklahoma A Tulsa Police officer who just graduated from the academy a month ago is out of a job because of questionable posts on Facebook.
The department received a complaint about Officer Wayne Browns Facebook posts Wednesday morning. The decision to release him didnt take long. He was fired an hour later, News 9 reported.
According to police, he goes by Duke Brown on his Facebook page. A community action group found the posts dating back to 2013 and took screen shots of them. Tulsa Police called most of the memes posted as questionable

I'd agree if they apply the same standard to black candidates who listen to misogynistic rap music. But they won't.
He worked for the government.
How old was the man in question in 2013? Certainly that would be relevant. What 15 year old hasn’t said something questionable or acutely embarrassing in the retrospectroscope?
> He worked for the government. <
I dont think that matters. Heres another example. Suppose Im a government official. And I tell all my colleagues that President Trump doesnt know what hes doing. The 1A wouldnt protect me from being fired by the President.
But the 1A would protect me from being arrested for treason just because of what I said.
Did they even have a "social media and networking policy" six years ago?
He must be white. Complainer was probably an ex-girlfriend who decided to bring him down for cheating or dumping her.
>The police cant recruit people now.
The Ferguson Effect is a real thing for sure. And despite that it was built on a lie, people still join #BLM.
I know it is somebody elses screen name but Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin. The handwriting is on the wall for anyone who cares to read it.
> WTH is a “protected class of individuals”? Some people are protected, but others aren’t? <
I think they are referring to the federal protected classes: race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age (over 40), veteran status, and disability.
You cannot discriminate against a person based on any of those characteristics. But if a characteristic is not on the list, you can discriminate! So, for example, you can legally post this sign on your business: Help wanted. Redheads need not apply.
Just watch. It will eventually lead to not being employable if you don't have a social media trail for them to check.

How old is the former officer in question? If these posts were from when he was a teen then some slack might be warranted. But if they’re from when he was in his early 20’s or something like that then I doubt he’d ever make the kind of police officer that Tulsa wants. His prejudices are too ingrained.
Protected class of individuals is a sketchy term. Christians are openly mocked and tormented on social media daily.
You might have a point, so I guess that’s where the lawyers come in. But in your example you’re a government employee. In this guy’s case, he posted what he did, when he was a private citizen. Then again, the devil is in the details, if he was that new he was on probation, I’m assuming, and part of that means you can be terminated for any reason.
The two of you have touched on something, that I don’t think many pay attention to. There are shortages for cops, firemen and emt’s all over the country. Recently, in St Louis the DA said the cops didn’t have to shoot the drug dealer they were trying to arrest, who was armed with a loaded revolver. Who the hell would want to be a cop there? Look at what happened in Baltimore, after Freddie Gray. Mayor sides with the community, throws cops under the bus, cops leave or don’t do their jobs, city descends into chaos.
Soon there will be private police forces in the wealthy areas. Everyone else will be left to fend for themselves.
But he probably could have knelt during the anthem and claimed free speech.
The hippy joke was hilarious. I loved it.
unfortunate, but probably true.
Mr. Brown is at his attorney’s office right now! They are both counting their millions. One wants a yacht. The other an airplane!
