Eddie Money, the prolific singer and songwriter whose songs “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Shakin'” and “Take Me Home Tonight” soundtracked popular music in the 1980s, died Friday (Sept. 13). He was 70.

A statement provided by his family reads: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Money recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.

I was able to see him in concert a few months ago, along with Joan Jett.

For some unknown, there was a time where Eddie Money was the performer I had seen in concert the most, maybe 4 or 5 times. I liked his music well enough, but in the end, he would be way down my list of favorite artists. But, he usually had a good touring band, the shows weren't expensive, and he had a long enough list of hits to make the shows entertaining.

RIP, Mr. Money.

I seem to recall he was a cop before pursuing a career in music.

RIP

He definitely paid his dues, playing the local clubs in Berkeley, notably the Longbranch and the Keystone nightclubs, he was at one or the other it seems, for years.

It kind of surprised me when he made it big. RIP

When Two Tickets came out it was the rare Rock Hit Song in the age of disco.

"I seem to recall he was a cop before pursuing a career in music."

I knew that he came from a family of police officers but I didn't know he was ever one himself.
