So she sits me down. We have a nice conversation. She tells me, “Oh, the sketches are great.” I go, “Oh, fantastic. Well, then… well, then, why am I here?” She said, “Because, David, there’s no way… that you can ever say the word… “f*ggot” on our network.
I didn’t know I did anything wrong. I didn’t try to defend myself. I said, “All right. F*** it, I’ll take it out. Have a good afternoon.”
And as I was leaving, it occurred to me. “Hey. Hey, Renée, quick question. It’s just a question. Seriously, I wanna know. Like, wh-why is it… why is it that… that I can say the word “n*gger” with impunity… …but I can’t say the word “f*ggot”?”
And she said, “Because, David, you are not gay.” I said, “Well, Renée… I’m not a n*gger either.”
But, you see, what I didn’t realize at the time and what Kevin [Hart] had to learn the hard way is we were breaking an unwritten and unspoken rule of show business. And if I say it, you’ll know that I’m telling you the truth.
The rule is that no matter what you do in your artistic expression, you are never, ever, allowed to upset… the alphabet people. You know who I mean. Those people that took 20% of the alphabet for themselves. I’d say the letters, but I don’t want to conjure their anger. Ah, it’s too late now. I’m talking about them L’s and them B’s and them G’s and the T’s.
Betcha there are only about 10 percent of college “edgycuted” kids that know that!
I saw this special the other day and told my wife about it. She visits different locations for her job and was in went to McDonalds in a small/medium sized town in southwest Iowa and said that the parking lot had a bunch of tweakers that scared her. She saw a bunch of those folks when visiting Walmart in the same town that also scared her. One of my best friends still lives in the small/medium sized town that we grew up in in southeast Nebraska. He is a successful business owner who owns a body shop and a large tow business. We went out to dinner the other night and commented that our town was really getting “scummy” because it is full of tweakers. He has a large impound lot and ends up with dozens of vehicles per year from tweakers who abandon their cars when they break down on the street. He tows and impounds the cars on behalf of the city and ends up owning them because the owners can’t afford to pay the impound charges because all the money goes up their noses or into their veins. This is in the Leave it to Beaver, nobody locks their doors little town that we grew up in 40 years ago. It is really alarming and goes right along with the opioid crisis. It seems to be rampant all over the middle of the country from what I can tell and seems to be getting worse.
Black men will go at least 20 percent for Trump, probably more, maybe 30!

Chappelle is one funny guy.
The opioid bit grew because of over prescribing pain killers to people, not looking to get high, but seeking to treat a medical problem.
So that’d be like “just saying no” to your surgery.

I was prescribed a big fat bottle of vicodin after some surgery. Two years later, I threw out the bottle, full, minus one pill.
Saying no gets more important the harder it is to say it.

I'm all for crossing imaginary lines to real a truth that's been obscured by that line. One of the best ever was the SNL interview/word association sketch with Chevy and Richard Pryor. However, call me a prude, but having sex with children isn't a sacred PC cow. And maybe I missed the nuance, but Chappelle didn't come across like he really thought what MJ did was wrong but he's playing Devil's advocate to reveal the hypocrisy of the MJ supporters.
I thought Chappelle was also going after the parents, who let their kids sleep over at MJ’s place. I mean, how stupid do you have to be?
I watched it and Eddie Murphy’s ‘87 special last night. I liked Murphy better.
I didn’t vote, just comics. i would have voted Pryor of Carlin and i love Rickles and dangerfield and the others I mentioned. Chappelle would have been in my second tier..
the alphabet people seem to think they should have more rights than normal people. That’s why I’m tired of LGBTQIDIOTs.
I generally enjoyed it. Some parts were a bit cringe-worthy (abortion: since women can choose to kill them...my body my choice, men should at least be able to choose to abandon them...my money my choice), but I powered through.
It certainly wasn’t “conservative”. The libs, critics, and msm sees non-pc and racial jokes and immediately slaps it with the label “conservative”. They want to make sure that anything considered by them to be racially or sexually offensive equals “conservative commentary”.
For the most part, I enjoyed watching it because I think it pisses libs off. And for that reason, I might watch it again.
