A female author who has been a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist took Trump Derangement Syndrome to a new level, stating on Twitter that she doesn't want people to wear red hats because they are "making everyone scared." Rebecca Makkai wrote;
Is anyone else made really uncomfortable these days by anyone wearing any kind of red baseball cap? Like, I see one and my heart does weird shit and then I finally realize it only says Titleist or whatever. Maybe don't wear red caps anymore, normal people? Also, for the love of God: The clever folks wearing "Make America Read Again" or whatever caps -- NO. You're making everyone scared. Don't do it.
If youre here to be contrary: an equivalent here would be western Hindus choosing not to use the swastika symbol in public despite it being sacred to their faith because it would offend/frighten people. The red hat has become a symbol of hate bc of how its wearers act.
Makkai added, "Also I love all the people who are like 'YOU CANT POLICE ME, LIBTARD!' Please note that I was specifically addressing 'normal people.' The ones who dont want to freak people out at a distance. The ones who enjoy it should absolutely continue letting us know who thy [sic] are."

Makkai has not been reticent about her opposition to President Trump; in December 2018 she wrote that she "hit a low. A how-do-we-keep-fighting-one-more-day low, a scream-silently-into-the-mirror low, a twilight-of-democracy low I tried to distract myself by retreating to the bubble of literary Twitter, where I started a thread listing some of my favorite overlooked fiction Soon, though, someone jumped in with a bit of scolding: 'Were 100 days out from an election,' she wrote. Thats what we should all be thinking about.'"
Makkai wrote that she responded, "I refuse to live in a world where an oppressive regime prevents us from advocating for art."
As far as being frightened by MAGA hats, Makkai might take note that there have been numerous incidents in which people wearing MAGA hats were the ones assaulted or oppressed by others, including:
December 2017: A group of students wearing "Make America Great Again" hats were booted from a non-profit coffee shop on the Fordham University campus because the cafe is considered a "safe space," and the hats were triggering customers and staff.
April 2018: A woman at a D.C. restaurant also told reporters that she was assaulted for being a Trump supporter. Fox 5 reported, "D.C. police are searching for a pair of suspects who attacked a woman after she said she supported President Donald Trump. Police say the felony assault took place at around 1 a.m. on March 16 at the Surfside restaurant in the 1800 of N Street near Dupont Circle in Northwest D.C."
July 2018: A manager of a popular seafood joint in Vancouver discriminated against a customer in an iconic "Make America Great Again" hat, denying him service. Also July 2018, on Tuesday night, a Texas man assaulted a teenage boy wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat at a Whataburger restaurant in San Antonio.
November 2018: A female Harvard University graduate student who had a MAGA hat and legally-owned guns in her room was asked by her apartment owner to move out after her roommates reportedly searched through her room and found the guns.
February 2019: A man from Tennessee allegedly pulled a gun on a man wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat, stuck the gun in the MAGA-hat-wearing mans face and reportedly threatened, "Its a good day for you to die."
But red hats are scary.
Cincinnati Reds fans are saying "Not so fast there, Buster."
This will come as a shock to the Red Hat Society.

They have been doing this for at least 20 years and probably more
Every time I drive by a newspaper building I’m terrified - - therefore newspaper should close their doors and go out of business.
Demand a poll asking if people feel institutions that terrify citizens should be allowed to stay in business... most people will stand with me.
Rebecca Makkai needs to understand ... newspapers don’t have the right to terrify people.
I see Lizzy Warren has taken to wearing (poorly) a black “Make Earth Great Again” ball cap. Has to copy Trump because she is an idiot with no imagination.
Its not about coping.
Its about her and others ability to control and dictate what’s acceptable and what isn’t.
Putz Prize finalist.
Pulitzers, like Nobels, are all about PC nowadays. This woman is a 40 something white woman from Chicago (of Polish descent, I think) who writes stuff she thinks is “subversive”...that is, a children’ librarian who kidnaps a boy to keep him away from his “fundamentalist” parents, etc.
I have read parts of one of her books (about Romania or at any rate Romanian Jews at the start of Hitler’s regime) and I didn’t read it all because she’s simply not a good writer. Choppy sentences, no ear for poetry or rhythm, and about the level of one of those awful Judy Blume books that she probably grew up on.
Be that as it may, virtually all novelists who get published nowadays seem to have the duty to publish their hatred of Trump and all Republicans on any media source accessible. So I wouldn’t hold it against her personally. She’s doing what she’s gotta do to survive.
So my take away is we have no right to have rights if they deem it as disturbing or “scary”
They are not merely conceited, they are convinced that whatever they want will happen

And up until now it has.
I feel safer as I know that there's some one who is more likely to be carrying and will fight like a man to protect others.
Only if we comply, a few isolated incidents do not make a nationwide ban despite what weak kneed people do in response to what the MSM says
Vaginas are scary.....mind controlling despots
Hungarian
Not Jewish though likes to pretend she is
shut the hell up. What about those old ladies and their Red Hat Society. They scare you, too???
i just said that too.
The comments are wonderful.
That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title; didn’t even strike me that it was about MAGA hats - or that a Pulitzer finalist would write garbage like this.
