Must be like the Clif Bloks that I eat when I’m hiking. And what moron goes looking for this kind of thing out in a town they’re not familiar with? They’re WAY cheaper on Amazon and most sporting goods stores don’t even carry them, I wouldn’t expect a town of 2000 people to have an REI. Seems like you’d hit a grocery store and get some trail mix with M&Ms or granola bars. That part of the story sounds made up to me. If you leave your Clif Bloks sitting on your dresser, they might as well be on the moon. Just assume you’re not getting any on this trip. You have a 99.9% chance of being right.

Fat runners are rare.

That is because running while fat is very hard on your feet, knees, hips and shin bones. In other words fat people who choose running as their primary aerobics exercise typically injure themselves before they get much benefit from running.

That’s the part that is wacky to me. If you’re a serious runner and you’re eating like a runner would, it seems to me that the fat part would be temporary. If it isn’t, go get your thyroid checked and have a doctor run a metabolic scan. Something is going on besides being a person who holds onto it more than average.

Got me. It sounds like an excuse to charge you $200 for a spandex shirt that cost 40-cents to manufacture.

Around here they have a good selection of Cliff Bars at Walmart and Costco.

Especially the impact on joints part. Seems like you’d find a different sport until the weight comes off, then hit the running. When I ran cross-country in high school in the 80s, most of the kids had to have their ankles taped every day for track practice and I knew a couple of rich-kids (sons and daughters of California health-nuts) that had arthroscopic knee surgery at age 16. Gotta be kidding me. If you’re having these problems at 16, you need to find another sport. I’ll bet these people are the walking-wounded now.

I’ll have to remember that and do some comparison shopping. I like the Clif Bloks because they’re light, take up very little space in a hydration pack, and they have the same consistency as a Gummy Bear, so they don’t break up and get all crumbly after a day in your pack like granola bars do.

It lights up when the runner is in the DRS zone....(Sorry, slinking off now!)

That’s what I couldn’t understand either. I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and it’s HARD to lose weight, but when I was walking 40 minutes a day and counting calories, I lost 38 pounds. It wasn’t easy because of my slow metabolism, but if she’s running AND eating healthy, she should lose weight.

“...virtually ALL magazines have been taken over by PC lefties. It’s like the body snatchers...”

You are so right !!! I have a National Geographic from the era of the Kennedy presidency and it had an article about South Vietnam standing against the “Red Tide”. It was a strong anti-communist article and such articles were soon to disappear from that magazine.

Gatorade makes energy chews and they're available at most Safeway grocery stores, I think.

The Clif Bloks are very good, but I haven't seen them outside of REI.

Yep. As far as I can tell, virtually ALL magazines have been taken over by PC lefties. It’s like the body snatchers.

Yes, even Sunset magazine has fallen victim; it's now loaded with climate change crap. It's becoming unbearable.

I canceled all magazines subscriptions decades ago for that very reason.

What? She did not carb load on some veggie burger so she could puke at the finish line?

Fat runners are rare.

You leave the finish line too soon, they're usually found at the back of the pack........

*ding ding ding*
More like eating healthily. She says she like the after race beverages...and the post run carbs, I suspect.
