“The reason is because George W Bush was a terrible president who inconvenienced Americans for what terrorists did, and created vast new federal bureaucracies because he could.”

I hate the Bushes more with every passing day because the of the disasters that can be linked back to them.

My last flight, I went through the scatter machine with my license in my hand. When I got out, I had to wait for them to do another hand scan of my leg for some reason. I put my license in my pocket and little Napoleon started yelling at me that I wasn’t allowed to put my hands in my pockets.

I told him to quit making up rules on the fly and walked past him into the terminal.

He said something about giving him respect and I said that I would when he started to respect me.

“And you’d be surprised what can be hidden in shoes, like many different types of sharp objects”

I’m not sure preventing the threat of a sharp object is practically possible.

I would hope the cockpit crew never opens the cockpit door because a pretty stewardess has a homemade knife to her throat.

It's just another benefit of the TSAs customer harassment policy. Similar to their groping of passengers.

Maybe someday they will develop a terrorism prevention system.

I put all my metal electronic stuff except my SLR camera and my cell phone into a plastic zipper bag (and a plastic grocery bag) before going to the airport.

have we all forgotten about this guy?

Since his name is in the first sentence above, I'd say no.

A sentence is the collection of letters and words beginning with a capital letter and ending with punctuation. In case you weren't aware.

Why does Europe pre-pressurize luggage? Because a bomb got through that way once. The fact is our security is a joke. We just keep getting lucky.

“I fly United to/from Israel. Here in the US everything is the same as if one were flying to Florida, until one gets to the departure gate. There all bags are opened and given at least a once over. In Israel, you are asked a few questions by obviously trained folks, and if your answers don’t trouble them, which mine don’t, they send you on your way. I think you do have to pass through a magnetometer, but not one of those x-ray machines.”

That implies that the Israelis don’t think our existing system is effective enough.

lol. stick it, self righteous innerwebz tough guy.

the story was written by an idiot. if he doesn’t understand why shoes are a security issue, then it needed to be restated. I was simply trying to educate you.

I'm Jewish too. My rabbi also flies United, at least sometimes. (I know this because we were scheduled on the same canceled flight home some years back.)

Just a guess...was it Liberty Airport in NJ? They are the absolute WORST!! All TSA workers seem to be convicted felons.

They employ obviously intelligent people to do their screening. We employ mostly goons.

“I have similar experiences with TSA. The process is hectic, disorganized and confusing. It doesn’t have to be. I recently returned from Germany. They were both more organized and more thorough. No yelling, no misdirections.”

The first TSA step here in my local airport is checking your boarding pass and ID and I assume that’s the case elsewhere. The person checking the boarding passes should tell you which is the right line.

I listen to what the screeners tell other passengers - such as taking off one’s shoes and placing one’s laptop in a separate plastic tub.

Gatwick had produce size plastic bags that passengers were told to place their metal containing items in.
