I am so old – far older than most of those planning to disrupt the convention – that I remember vividly the riots that took place at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The antiwar fanatics, including Yippies who later were dubbed the “Chicago 7” when put on trial, did not want Vice President Hubert Humphrey to receive the nomination and continue the Vietnam War policies of his boss, President Lyndon Baines Johnson.
They conducted riots outside the convention and on the streets of downtown Chicago -- much of it televised by the TV networks – attempting to disrupt the convention. The Naitonal Guard was called up, and were taunted by demonstrators, resulting on many confrontations like this...

This is standard when the State Convention is in our town. It is standard when the Basketball Hall of Fane has a big “enshrinement” year.
Why do they think this is a big deal?
If there’s no room in Milwaukee, the liberal elites can stay in South Chicago...They know they will be safe there because they NEVER talk about any crime there...
Why in the hell did they pick Charlotte?
If it’s a democrat city they might as well be on vacation when it comes to democrat violence.
Hope a lot of them have unpleasant experiences with Milwaukee’s “democrats”.

So, Tom remembers the ‘68 chiraq riots at, of all places, the dem convention. Some of us were a little busy around that time and couldn’t spend much time on that kerfuffle. Hopefully the CMPD will apply the appropriate, uh, persuasive methods to the disrupters. No doubt the democommies contestants will decry any action against the disrupters as ordered from the evil orange man.

These days, Mayors insist cops stand down and wear “Kick Me” signs on their backs. Stopping crime requires deterrence.
That’s the norm for such. Same headlines can be used over and over and over and over through the years.

They don’t “fear” violence, they are PROMOTING violence.
Charlotte was chosen in part, because North Carolina is a swing state in the election. It is stopped at the convention there may help tip the balance in North Carolina.
The Democrats choosing Milwaukee is been part for the same reason. The Democrats hope to tip the balance of Wisconsin back into the Democrat column in the election.
My son is moving from Charlotte at the end of the month and I could not be happier! The crime has worsened since he moved there and that is saying something! He lives on the new development side of town and is surrounded by young professionals. This was supposed to be the better place to live there but the crime has gotten out of hand. Thank God he is leaving before this event!
