Beware. The old social security scam is surfacing once again. A call comes in saying they have found a misuse of your social security number and want you to call back. You can guess what happens then. Freepers and others, beware.
already received three of these calls! ARGGGGggg..
LOL,. 1060 West Addison is the address of Wrigley Field. LOL.
LOL
I’ve led phone salespeople on just to #### with them.
I guess that was kid of mean as they got so excited that they had a sale :)
It’s not their duty to protect you. They’re just the clean-up crew. And you’re not allowed to protect yourself, either.
I’ve tried the Tom Mab approach, but they usually catch on to me quick. I don’t have his persona.
I remember, years ago, before the internet, calling U.S. Air from western Ontario, when the temperature was about -25F and howling winds outside. Washington was so cold, about 0F, that government workers didn’t have to come in. I thought U.S. Air was headquartered in Washington, so during a pause I told the person on the other end, “Thank you for coming into today.” She replied, “Well, you’re welcome. Just for that I’ll give you a seat inside the airplane.” Turns out the call center was in Syracuse, NY, and almost as cold as western Ontario.
One of the few times I actually “touched” a person on one of those anonymous calls.
My wife and I get this call all the time....must have blocked it 15 times!!!!
I got one that said theyd deactivated my SSN due to fraudulent activity. Yeah, okay.
Give them the phone number of the nigerian princes’ scams.
But these fraudsters who feed on the weak and elderly and infirm, they deserve no quarter. Indeed, there are people and entire websites dedicated to scambaiting. Their stories are as wonderful as can be.
That is what they said to me too. Deactivated my SSN.
Of course I knew it was a scam as soon as they said department of social security, not social security administration.
Also unless they are investigating crime, they would not call you up.
Here’s one of those - https://www.wral.com/-how-could-we-be-so-stupid-local-couple-warns-others-after-falling-for-jury-duty-scam/18062779/
They dont call You unless You have called them and Requested them to call back b cause You dont want to stay on HOLD for 28 minuets or more.
They send out letters. Just like the THIEVES at the irs.
now i feel bad about picking on sales people
