Franconia Police District- A 19-year-old man died yesterday around 5:30 p.m. as a result of an incident that occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on Aug. 16. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit have preliminarily determined that Samran Khan, of Springfield, was laying on the roof of a 1997 Honda Civic being operated by another man near Hooes Road and Beverly Park Drive. Khan fell from the car and was seriously injured when the driver turned onto Beverly Park Drive. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were life threatening. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the incident. This remains an active investigation and we will provide updates when they are available.

Can’t fix stupid
DARWIN award winner
Insufficient data to know for sure.
Most terrifying moment ever. In 29 Palms, we were headed back to base. Some other Marines we didn’t know offered us a ride. The were motor-T.
Going down the road at night, the passenger got out, crawled across the roof, came in the driver window and took the wheel.
Quote...”we ain’t the prode of the coeps, but the pride dont ride without the motor-T!”
Swear its true
After all the stupid things I did growing up i’m still amazed at all the one’s I didn’t think of.
Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the incident.

Pretty sure speed played a part, since if the car hadn’t been moving, the guy wouldn’t have fallen off of it.
If this was overseas I would expect it, but not here in the states.
There were bus rides where there were more people on the outside of the bus fhen there were on the inside.
Or the motorcycle driven by the father with two young children on the tank and the mother behind her husband holding a baby.
Some of the worst moments EVER started with “Hey... watch THIS...”
There, but for the grace of God, go I...
A number of very excessive speed runs, Bumper skiing on cold winter nights, climbing out of the passenger side of a pickup into the bed to get a beer out of the cooler as we’re doing 90mph across Alligator Alley in the middle of the night, etc... Yeah, young, stupid and damn lucky...
You know it...
Keep in mind that the deceased's name is "Khan". :)
Well, the OBVIOUS answer is to BAN all 1997 Honda Civics! *SMIRK*
We called it “Roof-Riding” in my teens. Make goggles the plastic on a six-pack of beer, one hand on the driver’s side window and the other on the passenger side, and off you go!
We stopped after “Roof-Riding Rocky” fell and hit a tree. Great guy, but he was never quite the same after that.
Laying on the car... lying on the car... whatever. Words don’t really mean things anymore, amirite?
Son-in-law was in motor-T in 29 Palms and Pendleton. I’ll have to ask him if he has any similar crazy stories.
My craziest was back in the 80s when we could ride in the beds of pickups. I was in the back of one and a buddy was in the next lane in another and I decided to switch vehicles at about 40 mph. Short jump, safe landing, decided not to try it again.
Be careful to say that he shoulda hanged on. Because if you say he should have hung on some people here will think you are talking about his family jewels.
