The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now aware of 153 possible cases of severe lung disease in 16 states that could be caused by vaping, the agency said Wednesday in an update to a multi-state investigation.

The cases -- reported from June 28 to August 20, 2019 -- have popped up in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin. They have primarily affected adolescents and young adults.

This is an increase from Saturday, when CDC announced it was looking into 94 possible cases in 14 states. At the time, a CNN survey of state health departments concluded there were more than 120 cases in at least 15 states.

Well, guess I’ll have to quit vaping, start again smoking cigarettes and die earlier so I won’t become a statistic.

Yeah......no.

>At least those cannabis users won’t be doing any mass shootings.

Actually, there’s pretty strong evidence that heavy cannabis use triggers schizophrenia in sensitive males.

James Holmes, Jared Loughner, and others were all said to be heavy weed user in high school and classmates noted the changes.

They may well go schizo and be nuts. But they won't be shooting folks while they are vomiting for a month.

Yeah. I didn’t believe the whole scromiting thing at first, but then I had a student affected by it and she, being really dumb already, told the whole class about it, and the girl literally was being supplied honey oil (raw 70-80% THC) by her illegal immigrant boyfriend (she being a HS student), smoking it 3-4 times daily. She started vomiting and thought it was a stomach virus, but she eventually became so emaciated that her boyfriend took her to the hospital, where she was put on IV and began the withdrawal process after 2 weeks of crazy projectile vomiting. She continued this for another two weeks until she was released and then began smoking mid-grade weed, which, in her words “turned out perfectly cool.”

What a dame.

cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is real. Have treated it inpatient.

Not much can be done until it is out of the system. It is part of some neuro sensisitivity IMHO.

Treatment? Showers six to ten times a day.

Yeah, the student of mine that got it said that the only time she could eat was after a hot shower.

Crazy.

It interesting that cannabis can cause hyperemesis when you consider that its long time and still IIRC only (federally) approved indication is as an anti-emetic for chemotherapy patients.

I'd guess that smoking related diseases affect millions and yet, since vaping doesn't get taxed like cigs, it'll be attacked...

just like uber or AirB+B.....anything that up and comers do to make the lives of us regular peons a little better yet doesn't give big money to the elite, they'll attack...

I dont think it is crazy, I think that there is a neurological impairment that is occuring and that the showers override the neuro system because of the stimuli overwhelms it. It takes a while for the neuro system to regroup after the shower and the patient can eat during that time.

At least that has been my observation.

I think that what it shows it that the cannabaoids have an impact on the neuro system and on the gut neuro system as well.

My questions have always been:

How STERILE is that liquid?

Are the ingredients safe?

Do you have to wash and sterilize the apparatus from time to time, like DAILY? CPAP users know this................

It’s called cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, friend.

It is interesting to me how marijuana users not only defend their chosen mind altering substance... they immediately go on the attack any time someone who has treated or seen severe complications from its use speaks out.

Since it was legalized here in Washington things have gone from bad to worse. When you are driving on the roads or the freeways the skunk like odor comes in through your vents from the drivers ahead of you even when you have the A/C set on recirculate. When you get home on a pleasant summer evening the skunk like odor is permeating the neighborhood and your home. It is both ridiculous and outrageous.

I spent 25 years responding to medical calls and I can say with no hesitation what so ever that long term marijuana use has a definite association with severe psych problems, not to mention many other severe physical problems.

It’s also called CVS

PEOPLE WITH EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS WHO HAVE NEVER SMOKED CANNABIS AND ITS BEEN RECORDED BY MEDICINE 200 YEARS

Btw uncontrolled continuous vomiting for a month will kill you in a few days not a week

The acid from the stomach alone would be toxic to the throat

Not to mention dehydration and likely sepis shock

It’s like having cholera or Ebola

Case in point. Wardaddy if you checked in with the caregivers who respond to people who have screwed themselves up by using marijuana long term, it might open your eyes. In Western Washington where we live there are severe issues now rearing their ugly head.

We are talking about constant vomiting

You’re changing the subject

Yes chronic pot use can be harmful

Not arguing that

However in fact oddly enough a friend I have had since 1970 just left after a three day visit

He has smoked pot daily from 1971 thru prep school and Ole Miss

Much as I did from 1971 to 1985

But he never stopped and last night in my very home smoked his live resin THC pen a dozen times over the course of the evening

Other than being eccentric he’s pretty normal and more healthy than I am

And did I mention....he’s a successful tort lawyer

He just left in his Dually headed south on 65 for home in Mississippi

And he’s wearing a MAGA hat

Even though we were both 70s radicals

It was a great visit ....he makes my wife laugh a lot which is good for me

Some people can subject their bodies to all sorts of crap and nothing happens to them; while others drop over dead even after they have taken good care of themselves. That is just a fact of life. The problem is that a fairly high percentage of people who abuse themselves in various ways do end up dead or having severe problems later in life. My wife's little sister has been a boozer, pot smoker all of her life; she just turned 60 and she is basically on death's door step. While my Uncle who is in his 90s has been obese for 40 years and is still doing just fine other than he has had his knees and hips replaced twice and he has to ride around in an electric scooter when they go somewhere.

The marijuana you smoked from 1971 to 1985 isn't the same as the pot they have around here these days and a lot of people have severe problems from it. And of course even a sizable percentage of conservatives smoke it or eat it and most of them do not correlate the issues that they have in common with other marijuana users to be related to their usage. I can tell you that I have seen enough to recognize some definite patterns, and much of this is backed up by studies that marijuana advocates will never even acknowledge.

The people that I have seen with vomiting problems from marijuana mostly were eating it or taking a large amount of a concentrated form. You can minimize it or disbelieve that it was caused by marijuana all you want... it doesn't change the fact that the people I saw who were afflicted with this type of problem, suffered from it after they were using marijuana products. And their doctors concluded that this was the cause of their difficulties.

Bacteria grows anywhere moisture and temperature are optimum.

I’m my youth, I worked fast food. One of my jobs was to clean the soda fountain.

If you could have seen what I did, you would never buy another soda!...............
