Because LGBTQ Americans living in poverty often experience unacceptable homophobia and transphobia, many become homeless.

A majority of homeless LGBTQ people end up on the streets before they turn 18, and one in four is homeless before turning 16.

I am a bit confused. It simply states a couple of things, and says the Salvation Army will help where it can. It does NOT endorse the lifestyle - just lets them know the Salvation Army might be able to help.

I disagree in the STRONGEST sense with that lifestyle, but Christianity is not supposed to be a “You-made-your-bed,-you-lie-in-it” kind of Faith. Jesus said we should help people in order to witness to them. The SA can witness to folks from that community if they are staying in a shelter.

Jesus talked to “unacceptable” people in His day, too... I donate to Him every week.

Yes, because it is ultimately a spiritual disease.

You are correct when you say that we Christians, like our Master, are to show love and care for everyone in need -— not just the “respectable” and not people “just like us.” Jesus said, “The healthy do not need the Physician: sick people do!”

But if you read through, you will see that the SA now honor the twisted legal fiction known as “gay marriage,” and hire gay couples on their own staff without any indication that this is a fundamental violation of God’s law.

They also buy into the narrative that gays are pervasively suffering from society’s homophobia, a weaselly politicized term used to blame normal, just, decent and thoughtful people who resist the all-powerful LGBT agenda in any way.

YOU are a homophobe in their eyes, dear HeadOn, if you ever-so -gently and lovingly dare to “witness” to them.

THAT is the problem.

Read in a bit more detail. I already addressed this point prior.

It’s a lot of smoke-&-mirrors talk of discrimination, causation, and basically ignoring their root problem without actually acknowledging they need to change and thus should SA minister to them. Helping them with every-day charity problems is one thing, treating them as special and yet not needing “witness” is another.

It's something like thinking about a truly Christian ministry to alcoholics. By all means, invite AA to start a chapter in your parish and get your best preacher to preach on the well-founded hope of a new life based on spiritual rebirth in Christ.

Invite a "dry alcoholic" minister to do a targeted revival meeting and tell his recovery story, with all its ups-and-downs, scrapes and struggles, and its lessons of patience, trust and victory.

But don't invite them to come join you with the kind of indiscriminate affirmation that will only trap them deeper in their self-deception.

Your purpose in life is to lover the sinner and hate the sin. I don’t see anywhere where they are providing dating or hookups. Job training, housing, drug treatment, along with the rest of the sinners. Problem with LBQwhatevers, is the know their lifestyle is against Gods will, so they are against God. The SA appears to be trying to reconcile to them. Gods Salvation is not for the righteous, it’s for the sinners that come to him in repentance

“Food insecurity.” PC rubbish started in the Obama years. I guess I will only be giving to Samaritan’s Purse.

Some time ago i did research into how agencies come up with such figures and the crafty way some agencies raising funds to help the hungry here use such findings, and found how contrived they were. How many Americans do NOT experience hunger, or how many well-fed souls would say they sometimes "do not have enough food of sufficient quality and quantity"...," or had to put things back on the rack because they did not have enough money (can mean with them) to buy them all, or did not know where their next meal was coming from (may even mean McDonalds, Papa Ginos, etc)? There are the relative poor, as we were growing up, but the figures are exaggerated for funding purposes.

At length examination here, by God's grace. Food hunger in America: More Hype than Reality. Why?

Could not believe the top of the home page, indicating "LGBTQ".

The Salvation Army has increasingly overall become neither and liberal over the years, contrary to its founder. (You can read HOW TO FIND GOD - WM. BOOTH.)

LGBTQ youth contemplate suicide at almost three times the rate of heterosexual youth. More than a quarter of LGBTQ Americans are food insecure and rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Almost one-third of transgender people have been rejected from an emergency shelter. The Salvation Army recognizes the need for all people, regardless of income, to have access to rehabilitation programs.

Compassion should be shown, but seeing as gay and bisexual men accounted for 82% of new HIV cases among males 13 and older in 2017 , with lifetime treatment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, then one would think that compassion would mean warning them of the deleterious effects of this, and offering rehabilitation programs to escape from it.

Read #66, which also shows more how they are EMBRACING this “sin” (at the very least, it is a defect and abnormal). They deliberately write that they are glad to have “same-sex marriage” partners in their employ, etc. No, this is not just helping them OUT OF THEIR SIN/ADDICTION, this is “accepting” beyond the pale. Notice they do not write the same about drug/alcohol addicts. Those are to be fought, but not homosexuality.

Thanks for enlightening me with more of the details. The page I saw did not appear to have any details... I’m not defending any policy by ANYBODY which promotes acceptance of the lifestyle.

Having said that, I’ll just have to breathe another in a long line of very heavy sighs, shake my head, and try to make sure my charitable contributions go in the right direction.

It’s getting to the point that any kind of contribution on my part can’t be made without stepping in something. I weep for the world my grandchildren will see. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Boy have you got that right.

I fear for my son. He’s too young and sensitive for what is surely coming.
