Trying to convince folks using facts when they have their preconceived political opinions is useless, particularly on FR where ignorance is esteemed and obnoxiousness is equated with courage.
Well that is certainly more authoritative than the forensic pathologist who did the autopsy.
Not sure if this was the officer who flew in like Jimmy Superfly Snuka but that was utterly ridiculous to leap and land on the guy with a chokehold because he waved off arrest for selling a few loose cigs.

Once again - Garner was NOT choked to death.
This is just mob justice by De Blasio and some idiot judge trying to “feel better” about the self inflicted death of a career criminal.

Anyone in bad health won’t need much abuse before keeling over. Eric Garner went down and never got back up.
Unhealthy people are prone to more harm via stress. Throwing a choke of any type on a large unhealthy person will lead to disaster. Most mma guys are at the pinnacle of fitness and are used to rolling and being choked or in a position of being choked.

They also go unconscious from such chokes in a matter of seconds.
Garner was conscious during the choke, which means he wasn’t being choked. He was being held.

Wind pipe chokes, blood chokes, strangle holds.

Garner did not lose consciousness from the “choke”, which is a dead giveaway that he was not being choked.
I don’t doubt that he was compressed between the cops, the walls, and the ground though. I can see how that would result in positional asphyxia quickly for a man such as him.
Not accurate. There are two types of chokes, air and blood. Basic bjj. One can have blood cut of and be able to talk or restricting air in and being able to say something. Bad day all around.

Clearly, his windpipe was not being compressed enough to cause a loss of consciousness.
Clearly his arteries were not being compressed enough to cause unconsciousness.
If the choke failed to cause him to lose consciousness, then the choke also failed to kill him.
Sorry, but the cop choking this guy was ridiculous.
The fact it took this long to FIRE him over this, tells you all you need to know about why things are in the state they are.
I have no doubt this man had no intention of causing permanent harm to anyone.. but the fact he thought I need to choke this guy just because he’s pleading his case to subdue him for an arrest for selling loosies shows he should not be a cop.
All the choke needs to do is harm the carotid arteries or jugular veins in any form. That's enough stress on a fatty. Reducing oxygen to a fatty and spiking stress is all it takes. Fatty is example one of why the NYPD put restrictions around the neck of people.
You are severely misinformed if you think this is what happened.
I don’t mind restrictions being put on police with regard toward how to handle people.
I don’t enjoy seeing what happened to this man.
I think the officer who put his arm around Garner’s neck is being scapegoated, however.
All of the officers involved in that are partly responsible for his death by compressing him as they did. Garner is also partly responsible via his behavior and poor health.
It was an unfortunate situation, but that one individual is not the person responsible for this death alone. It was a group effort by all involved.

If you think this guy was offering “resistance”, let alone “physical resistance” you are not only misinformed, but need your eyes examined.
