This reminds me of the water drinking contest on some radio station. A female died because she upset the electrolytes in her system. She drank over a gallon of water.

IIRC, the radio station was sued. And probably settled out of court for a large sum.

A few years ago a cop was getting ready to run a marathon here in DC and drank over a gallon of water. He died of water poisoning.
