FULL TITLE: Wendy's manager is under fire for blaming his employees' poor service on having a 'talentless pool of ex-junkies' to hire from in the small Massachusetts town
A Wendy's manager has sparked outrage for insulting his employees and bashing his Massachusetts town as a drug-riddled, talentless 'pool of ex-junkies'.
Wendy's customer Matthew Rose said that he had been shocked by the bad service he received when he visited the restaurant on Cranberry Highway in Wareham on August 3. He says he returned a few days later, to a similarly terrible experience.
He decided to send a complaint to Wendy's corporate office. But the reply he was stunned with the response he received on Monday morning from district manager Keith Edward Helger.
Helger blamed the restaurant's shoddy service the poor caliber of applicants in the town.
The e-mail Rose received said: 'I apologize for your experiences at this location. Not an excuse but the town of Wareham has little to no talent pool to hire from. This is an ongoing issue in that area. We are constantly interviewing and hiring any and all qualified candidates. Unfortunately those candidates are hard to come by as most are recovering addicts and we cannot hire them.'
'We will continue to do our best to fix the issues in this location and improve the overall Wendy's experience. I appreciate your feedback.'

I’m sure that this manager is a white supremacist...and President Trump supporter. This is yet another reason to impeach NOW!
every one knows wendy is white with red hair and freckles. An aryan woman no doubt.
The greater the “outrage”, the better the odds that this guy is right.
Too bad I don’t live in the area to counter the inevitable virtual-signalling boycott.
...and yet another white separatist. Sheesh! When will this oppression stop!!!???
Respectfully asking if you have ever been a manager making the most of talentless junkies.
FYI, Wareham is next to Cape Cod, but not on it. It's on the mainland.
That’s true of most restaurants, even in some of the nicer states now—especially in fast food. ...except that they’re not “ex”-junkies. Many of them are currently junkies, and many of them have long criminal histories. Drug testing is talked about much but seldom really done except with junkies who don’t go along with the more established junkies. Oh, and the junk increasingly more preferred is meth, ecstasy and the like, ‘cause it keeps ‘em going and wanting to have sex with everything in reach. Also, if slipped into a drink, makes the uninitiated, younger, cleaner young ladies want to join in.
BK is worse, BTW.
Definitely not good to be fried when you’re working the fryer.
Yes, if he offers more money he will get a higher caliber of employee candidate.
$15/hr would attract a higher caliber of employee.
Sounds like both our Burger King and Pizza Hut.
The guy on FB contends that these folks will magically take pride in their work and want to keep their jobs That's how he felt in the ''60s , when he got a raise. I don't think he has a clue about the millenial work force.
This truth must also be quite bitter to his mouth.
That is the ticket to real populists majority party.
Very believable
I got to the point of checking the local county jail records before interviewing an application because so many young men who could handle the work load for the job had background that would make them unqualified to hire. At least 50 percent
Duh.
The all go down on the cape to get their heroin.
I’m not a Republican.
I don’t think it’s possible to pay Americans less than the minimum wage, legally, so your second contention is flawed, at best.
I’ll ask again....these higher caliber workers you’re speaking of.... do you think they’re sitting on the couch waiting for the minimum wage to hit $15 an hour to run out and get fast food jobs?
Apparently, the work force in the area where this particular Booger King is located is as you describe.
Could have been worse. He didn’t go to a Wendy’s in Leominster.
