Before I would fully believe this heretofore unknown longevity of the Bigmouth Buffalo, I’d question the veracity of the carbon dating method employed.

Well, they do have omega 3 6 and 9 coursing through their veins.

He probably used up what he put into social security 20 years ago.

great minds think alike. Before opening the thread, just based on the title, I went and grabbed the image. Then I saw your post.

I caught a fish that was so old, it had a musket ball in it from where Boudreaux’s great great grandfather had gone fishing.

Yes, sir, I did. I read where they compared the amount of Carbon 14 in the samples to the Carbon 14 released in the atmosphere during atomic bomb testing.
I have also read enough about Carbon 14 dating (from non-tinfoil hat sources) to question the ability of the researchers to use Carbon 14 to date the lifespan of the sample to a specific year, with no plus or minus error range.

Wow. Have planned a “float down the river and fish” trip on the Buffalo River in Middle Tennessee for next month. It is a beautiful small river that feeds the Duck, and then the Tennessee River. The river is named for the Buffalo fish. We plan to do a 2 day float and camp overnight for a 21 mile float. Looking forward to it.
