ust in case youre tempted by that adorable wild creature dont pet the bobcat in the park.
The National Park Service posted a public service announcement Wednesday telling people that bobcats are not pets.
They advise that visitors to the parks should resist the urge to pet and hold young bobcats, regardless of how cute they might be. They can claw and bite.
Keep wildlife wild says the park service.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission includes bobcat (Lynx rufus) on its list of wild animals in the state.
The National Park Service maintains three areas in Southwestern Pa.: Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville; Fort Necessity National Battlefield in Farmington; and Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site in Cresson.
I pet a mountain lion once. Just once.
It was at a veterinary office and it was a cub that a professional handler had there for some reason. That cute little purr sounded like a big dog growling.
"Don't Mess Around With Jim" (unless you're "Slim")
Hey city folks.
Don’t mess with wild animals.
They will kick your ass.
Unless you are Chuck Norris.
Makes me want to hug a Lionfish.
There were some Bison on the other side ....
Just yesterday, there was a video on the news of a Yellowstone bison hooking a little girl and tossing her in the air. Mom and dad ran away. The Miami family had gotten very close to the bison. The bull didnt do anything for a while, but then snapped. Fortunately, the girl received only minor injuries.
Sometimes it amazes me how out of touch most people are about how strong and fast even small animals, like raccoons or opossums, are.
Wild animals are wild animals. Don’t pet them, don’t try to feed them, don’t jump into their enclosure in the zoo. Don’t approach them in the wild. Stop voting for Democrats.
So I have been told.
“What about cougars?’’. There’s one two houses down from me. Brunette, 5’ 4’’, about 40-45. Grrrrr!
I agree. The end result of protecting people from their own stupidity is to live in a world full of fools. Like you would need to tell someone not to pet a wild animal, a predator no less as if it were a house pet.
Rimshot, cymbal crash!

I live on The Jersey Shore, Bricktown. The Atlantic is eight miles due east of my back door. I live in ranch home off the main street, Garden State Parkway is less than a quarter mile from my house. I have and had deer, turkeys in the development, running through my yard, regularly have raccoons,(half a dozen at a time), rabbits, skunks, ducks, a regular menagerie of wildlife and we’re technically an ‘’urban area’’.
This is getting insane. So many people know nothing about wildlife, or even terrain.
When people have to be told not to pet bobcats, don’t have enough sense to keep a distance from bison, and play games and take selfies on the edge on on outcroppings at the Grand Canyon it simply amazes me.
People now seem to have issues with reality; I hear a new craze is staring down a wolf. That is supposed to be magical to those who claim to have done it...in the wild mind you. I guess we will know if that is real when people are being eaten by wolves again.
My dad used to say some people were too stupid to survive. The thing is now most of them do survive.
