Robservations on the media beat:
Courtney Gousman
Is this a racist image? The depiction of a noose over an automobiles gas tank cover prompted a reporter for Tribune Broadcasting WGN-Channel 9 to say it made her sick to my stomach. Saw this on the way home from work and it made me furious, afraid, and sick to my stomach, Courtney Gousman wrote on Twitter and Facebook Sunday. Given the history of the noose and how it was used to murder black Americans, this image speaks volumes no matter how its explained away because its plastered on a gas tank. #wideawake. When a white reader suggested Gousman was just looking for a reason to be mad, she replied: The depiction of a noose was clear enough gas pump or not. There are plenty of other symbols that could have accomplished this besides this hateful reminder.
Some people should not get out of bed in the morning.
Tighten up buttercup. Everything is not about you.
Um ... as I recall, Catholics killed their share of Protestants as well.

Well, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Ignorance has so many negative knock-on effects, but the most problematic ones are a surfeit of emotion and a lack of perspective.
I associate the noose with cattle rustlers getting hung.
To the souboy no nuts reporter,
Truck you, and get a life!
Does the daily slaughter of blacks by blacks make her sick too? Compare the last time a black killed a black and the last time a black person was lynched. Something of a time lapse there???
Uh, when and how? Every one was Catholic in England until Henry8. Then he and his of his new church killed those who remained Catholic. Lots came to Maryland. True asylum seekers.
Evidently there’s a greater demand for racism in America than there is a supply of. :)
Isn’t that a commentary on the Straight of Hormuz situation?
She must of run out of “Big Girl” panties.
Didn’t they used to hang horse thieves?
Ah. A book from twelve years ago, when we evidently used up the last of the oil.
I assume that’s there to deter Gasoline Thieves.
how many lynchings were there of blacks?....with the media changing history I am doubting some things...
And the reverse.
