Why I don't vote for Democrats
American Thinker ^ | 23 Jul, 2019 | Mchael Smith

Last week, a friend of mine offered that he thought that I was so ideologically bound to classical liberalism (i.e., conservativism) that I would never vote for a Democrat. Because he meant it as an insult — as in "you are so invested in your ideology that you can't even hear another side" — it bothered me, and that caused me to think about why I oppose progressive Democrats.

What I realized was that some of my opposition is, in fact, ideological — but the majority share of my current opposition is simply practical.

Democrats claim to offer a few things — this list isn't exhaustive, but it covers the big ones. Dems say, "We love the Constitution and can be trusted to make and apply laws sensibly. We know what equality is and can get it for you, and you can trust us: we are logical and reasonable."

So I took a few minutes to break down my own thoughts about these statements to see if my decisions were driven by ideology:

We love the Constitution: No. No, you don't. Not even a little. You and your minions are constantly telling us how that dusty old document hampers the progress you want to make. The Electoral College and all those troublesome amendments you want to restrict — or, in the case of the Second Amendment, to outright repeal — are evidence you don't care about the Constitution. And let's talk about those opinion pieces that come out every few years or so that state that nothing is acceptable short of junking the entire thing and coming up with a new one.

“For the first time ever, I’d vote for him in South Carolina if I lived there.”

Well, you’re a lot more trusting that I am!

I look at Graham like a junkie who has been breaking into your house and stealing your furniture for 20 years. Just because he has seemed to get “clean” and hasn’t broken in for the last couple of years doesn’t mean I would let him housesit for me.

The Democrats lost me in 1972, and I was only 17 at the time. I was watching some clips of the Democratic Convention- which put McGovern on the ticket, and saw the Communists taking over. The likes of Hubert Humphrey and Henry Jackson would eventually die of, to be replaced by those who looked to subject everyone to the heavy head trip.
Keep in mind that during my youth some of my heroes were bible smugglers, underground churches, and the refuseniks.

EVERYONE who votes for Flimsey Grahamnesty is voting for amnesty for illegal aliens and a permanent Democrat majority.
Make no mistake about it.

The day the GOP left us and I became a Constitutionalist. Trump, bless his heart is doing all he can while the GOP works against America and it’s citizens.

"... that you can't even hear another side"
They can't hear our side . . . They intentionally misunderstand [us] just to falsely demonize [us]. [The problem is not what we can’t hear them] . . . The problem is I hear their side all too well.

Since Bush II, the ideological and practical reasons I don’t vote for the demonrats have also been true for the GOPers, too.

To me, the GOPers tend to be worse than the demonrats, as they use their past credibilities to lie about who they are now and what they want to do, where as the demonrats are far more honest in these areas nowadays.

Unlike the GOP wing of their uniparty, the demonrats now think people agree with them, so they have no reason to lie anymore.

When obama told them that they are the ones they’ve been waiting for, they believed him.

And the GOP silently nodded in agreement with him, too, all while loudly campaigning against them, so that we, the people, got played, again and again and again and again ...

Just like all collectivists, you assume you can break the human spirit, the desire to achieve and perform to the best of your abilities, and change human nature. You can't. There are always going to be individuals who are driven to use their talents and those who want to sit on their derrieres and consume good oxygen. There is no way to make those two equals.

Mchael Smith gets it!

Why I don't vote for Democrats

Because they are evil.

Inside every democrat no matter how mild mannered is a deep desire to boss other people around. It is always for "your own good" of course. They regard themselves as your betters. You can not be left alone to run any part of your life.

A republican you might be able to talk into leaving you alone a democrat, never.

No. I think he’s changed positions on that. Graham is a changed politician. He’s like one of those atheist who one day woke up and fully believes in God.

You’re wrong, he is STILL working on the amnesty he’s been trying to pass since 2006.

Well we’ll have to agree to disagree. He’s done so much the last year for our country. I never thought I’d say that a few years ago.

The only thing Graham has changed is his rhetoric. Substantively, he hasn’t changed one bit. Recall his public threat to Comey over three months ago. And what became of that. Nothing, naturally.
