Today, in the whacko world of Colin ( take a knee) Kaepernick , Nike's anti-social marketing, and the puling left of the Dem Party, take a moment to get the straight shot on the Pledge of Allegiance from Red Skelton, addressing students and young people on his show:
"14 January 1969. Famous American comedian, Red Skelton, explains the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, word-by-word, from a memorized lecture given to him by his 7th grade school teacher, Mr. Lasswell"
It’s a socialist plot to teach kids blind obedience. Do what the country tells you, no matter what.
No really:

” Red Skelton”
That was humor. Not the modern pig $hit crap that is called humor.
Red Skelton was one of the few entertainers I’ve always held in high esteem. His rendition of the Pledge is a timeless classic to say the least.
Not spoiled rich people who hate America and the people who live in it..
There headed the way of the newspaper...
He did Guzzler's Gin, Mean Widdle Kid, Clem, did the Pledge, an energetic 'Best Of Skelton' for an hour, then took requests for another 25 minutes, then I got to meet him in a small group back onstage after he'd had a cool down. Came out with a cold towel around his neck and shook everyone's hand.
He and his wife's 60 Minutes interview was amazing, and of course DuhTube doesn't have it. If you can find it, fast forward to where they talk about how they treat people who cheat them for a 3rd time (forgiveness involves the first 2, but the 3rd time is excommunication).
Here's one of his last interviews where he talks about Ivanka and Donald Trump briefly.
The guy was a genius!
We miss actors and comedians like Red Skelton.
He was a great American!!!
So you do not want to honor our flag and our country?
Pledging blind allegiance to a symbol without regard for what’s behind the symbol, who’s in charge of what’s behind it, and what they’re wanting you to do, isn’t my thing. If it was a pledge to the constitution and the nation it built maybe. But the flag first, the country second and no guiding principles at all? Not so much.
You do realize it includes, and to the republic for which it stands?
Always thought of it as a pledge to the American idea and what it brought forth, but guess can be different for everyone.
I understand the wringing of hands about who pushed the Pledge and why it started, I ask why not teach the why and wherefore so it isn’t blindly doing anything?
Maybe this video helps a little with that, though I am afraid the audience that would benefit the most would never hear or listen to the end of this video.
Regardless have a great weekend.
As a room service waiter I met a lot of celebrities. He was one of the nicest people I ever met. He made little clown drawings on napkins and gave them to the waitresses in the coffee shop. Pure class.
Yes. 2nd. After the symbol. One of the most easily abused symbols in the world. Every tyrant this planet has ever seen has waved their nation’s flag with great vehemence. If your allegiance is to the flag first, you have been trained to follow the tyrant.
Not wringing my hands. Pointing out that the entire point of it is to make blind followers. Pledge to the flag, don’t worry about who’s waving it, don’t worry about their message, don’t think about what they’re telling you to do. Your allegiance is to that flag they’re waving. FOLLOW. Or as John Carpenter put it: OBEY.
Thanks for posting the link to the interview.
So much I did not know about him.
Thanks for posting.
I just sent it out to my children and grandchildren.
God bless America!
Red’s variety show as the only one I enjoyed. A patriot.
