GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA) Shoppers at a Garden Grove Walmart say theyre being harassed by a group of homeless people in the parking lot, but police say they cannot do anything about it.
Neighbors say a homeless camp has popped up in the parking lot leading to vandalism and harassment, and they say Walmart will not ask them to leave.
Security guards and crews to pick up trash have been hired for area parking lots to combat some issues, but shoppers still say they feel unsafe and frustrated.
Theres just a lot of homeless, a lot, asking for money, said one shopper who was there with a child. I dont come after its dark.
And when area cops are called out to the scene, their hands are tied.

Unlike Mexicans who flee at oppression and government corruption, Americans have nowhere else to go, so we Californians will stay and Resist state democrat controlled, single party welfare government.
I had forgotten that. It was always referred to as Garbage Grove and we lived in OC for 40 years until we made our escape from CA in 2006...
I wonder if it’s any more insulting than “for the people in Rio Linda” is....
Liberals think Wal-Mart shoppers are the lowest rung on the social and economic ladder (i.e. Trump supporters) so theyre not concerned by this.
Yet, the majority are almost certainly D voters. Especially urban and suburban. Many Trump supporters (patriots) often avoid the place when possible. LOL!
Yeah, theyll just close the store. Happens frequently with degrading stores. Theft & incidents up, sales & profits down.
Then Amazon wins, and Amazon is a bigger Dem supporter than WalMart.
“”This case also states there is a constitutionally-protected right to loiter as far as standing and walking (peacefully) on the sidewalks. This right is guaranteed under the Due Process Clause of California and the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment to all citizens of the U.S.””
Then how in the devil does that cover setting up a camping spot in the parking lot - they certainly aren’t loitering - standing or walking on the sidewalks!! They are no doubt COOKING and SLEEPING in the parking lot. What about vagrancy laws? That would be more fitting. Do they have money to take care of themselves? NO - then that’s a vagrant!! What would the law say if they chose to do this in a person’s front yard? Same thing? Refuse to enforce trespassing laws? I suppose the answer is nothing would be done! Why do we bother to obey any laws?
Which is another question I asked on a thread a week or so ago - do they get SS benefits and if so, how do they get them? Do they have bank accounts for automatic deposit? I bet they get SS Disability and that has to go somewhere..
> ALL WalMarts stuff is from China. <
Remember when WalMart used to brag about how most of their merchandise was made in the USA? I guess that was 30 years ago.
I wonder what would happen if they returned to that policy. Would American shoppers support them, and pay higher prices? Or would WalMart go out of business?
I think it would be the latter. WalMart would go out of business. Because it would be something like this:
Target’s foreign-made shirt: $10
WalMart’s US-made shirt: $20
I suppose there is a solution to this mess somewhere. Maybe it involves tariffs. Trump seems to care about this. But he is getting little support.
“”It sounds like a terrible place.””
Today - yes but not always.. I moved there from NY State in 1957 as a young newly married person. Loved everything about it - both Northern CA and Southern CA. We retired and moved out of the state in 2006 but even then things were not as bad as they are reported now. It had NOTHING to do with the state - but with the POLITICS and the POLITICIANS.
We could see the state going downhill and wanted no part of the liberal way of running things. I still miss what it was back then....I don’t think anyone can leave CA for good and say they don’t miss it. Left great weather behind and close friends but there comes a time to move on when things aren’t showing any improvement and more and more democrats get elected. What was the report from 2016 - not one single Republican congress critter retained his seat in OC? We were gone by then but that sure would have been a deciding factor at that time - stay or go?
Same here.
We just had a new Murphy’s [Walmart] gas mart open up about a month ago. It’s about a mile from Walmart.
The ‘homeless’ have already descended upon it’s entrances and exits with their pitiful, wrinkled, Sharpie pen cardboard signs.................
I remember Koreatown in 1992...
Koreans and Vietnamese folks are a little less tolerant of feral humans then others are.
I left in 2005 after having been born in San Diego in 1962 and living in most spots in Kali for at least a little while.
Miss the family. Miss the friends. Miss the sports teams. Miss the Rubios fish tacos. Miss the weather for about 5 months of the year.
That is all I miss. LA in 2005 was still a $#!+hole, just not as stinky as today maybe... an overpriced, over regulated $#!+hole.
You may blame politicians. I blame those that voted and keep voting for them...
Garden Grove, next citywide election YOU can do something about homelessness. You can either elect the Nutcases who caused this or elect people who will fight having trash in their town. YOU DECIDE...
“”You may blame politicians. I blame those that voted and keep voting for them””
That is useless. There’s nothing you can do about your neighbors, coworkers or friends who vote to keep these morons in office. They wouldn’t get the message anyway. It’s the politicians and the fight has to be getting them out!!!!
O U T!
I lived in Garden Grove for a short period...way back when it was a decent place to live.
I buy almost all my needs from Amazon and Walmart....on-line.
They ship for free...and I don't have to leave my place.
All Walmart stuff is NOT from China....
Same here. When we lived in Seattle, we lived off of Costco stuff. I moved to a “hobby farm” in south central KY. My nearest neighbor is 500 yards away...and am 90 minutes from the nearest costco. We no live off of Amazon. In fact, the only thing that causes me to keep my Costco membership is that it started in 1988 and I hate to let it lapse.
We actually have more products at our fingertips in the middle of nowhere than we used to have living in the city.
>>>>Theres nothing you can do about your neighbors, coworkers or friends who vote to keep these morons in office.<<<<
I beg to differ. One can get new neighbors and co-workers; the friends just kind of come naturally in a place as friendly as Texas. The friends, co-workers, and neighbors I have had since 2005 have done a really good job of keeping our leech class on a leash.
Politicians are going to be the same everywhere; pandering, soulless salesmen at best, power hungry megalomaniacs at usual and worst. Always easy to win elections when the leech class is let off its leash and starts demanding more. The leeches are always able to find politicians that will promise them more and outvote anyone that wants to stop feeding their lifeblood to leeches.
I remember when we used to walk to the store there when visiting family. Just a few little girls alone and perfectly safe.
Walmarts all over the country have allowed RVs to camp out in their parking lots (for a limited time) for years now.
They stopped that here about three years ago, although we had no homeless problem nor any problem apparent to me with over-extended stays. Dont know why they changed policy except maybe to get ahead of the problem?
