GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA) Shoppers at a Garden Grove Walmart say theyre being harassed by a group of homeless people in the parking lot, but police say they cannot do anything about it.
Neighbors say a homeless camp has popped up in the parking lot leading to vandalism and harassment, and they say Walmart will not ask them to leave.
Security guards and crews to pick up trash have been hired for area parking lots to combat some issues, but shoppers still say they feel unsafe and frustrated.
Theres just a lot of homeless, a lot, asking for money, said one shopper who was there with a child. I dont come after its dark.
And when area cops are called out to the scene, their hands are tied.

Garden Grove was never the ideal vacation, garden spot anyway so this wouldn’t help matters any. Aren’t there any vagrancy laws to enforce in all of CA? I bet there are but no one is going to enforce them!
If people stay away from Wal Mart, I bet they’d pay attention then. It can’t be the only one in the area..
Idiot CA government, a bunch of crazy homeless are more important to them, than tax paying, law abiding citizens.
Important point:
” when area cops are called out to the scene, their hands are tied.”
Except the homeless are everywhere.
Neither private people, nor police are allowed to make them move or do anything.
Looks like the homeless people found a new place to encroach after being evicted from the Santa Ana River.
GG used to be a nice middle class neighborhood until the manufacturing sites in the area started to shut down in the 1990s.
Disgusting mentally ill and drug addicted feral humans have become sacred cows here. Every day I see this filth. It is absolute decivilization and illogic.
It is not a solution to the true problems of mentally ill or addicts, and of course why wouldnt any uncivilized come here? This is the place to be and live wild and no one will bother you.
Wow, talk about the bottom of the barrel - people complaining because they are forced to NOT shop at Walmart. And I always thought that Garden Grove had decent people.
The goods arent just coming from China, but from many Third World countries. I keep wondering why Trumps tariffs focus on China, apparently allowing manufacturers to avoid them by shifting to other countries instead of bring the factories back to America
Those are not the root causes of homelessness. It’s local and state liberal governments with rent control laws and strict zoning laws that is artificially creating a housing shortage.
Maybe the alternative is having them camp out inside the 24/7 store.
After all, it is California grade stupidity.
Atlas Shrugged. We did not listen to Ayn Rand.
When you’re going to Walmart and you see empty Pringles cans you better run.. ....

People, shut up and shop somewhere else. That will be far more effective than whining.

You are correct,
Theyre doing it at the Huntington Beach Walmart too but not at any of the Target stores..
If its a waste of time and there is no enforcement, do what other businesses do..........lay a bunch of them off. When LE will not enforce laws, except on those who defend themselves, and that can afford to pay fines, then they become as bad as the perpetrators themselves.
I visited San Diego just two weeks ago. Lots of homeless folks. If it’s that bad in San Diego, I could only imagine what it’s like in L.A.
When I lived in Orange County, about 20yrs ago, Garden Grove was known as Garbage Grove. No offense to any GG FREEpers.
You left out mental illness. In Colorado, that is the #1 cause a person is living on the street. Many are also alcoholics and drug addicts.
I worked there in the 70’s. It was called Garbage Gulch then.
