LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A Florida man cleared a canal like The Dukes of Hazzard before crashing the vehicle Wednesday and running from the scene, investigators said.
Authorities said Robert Foley, 35, jumped the water in a Nissan Versa and kept going until he hit a parked truck, WFTX reported.
Foley then fled the scene. Helicopters were used to find him.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a broken back, WBBH reported.
Foley was later arrested and charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run, according to jail records.
His license was previously revoked, WBBH reported.

Running with a broken back? Florida Man really is a super hero.
I believe the cars used in the stunts were damaged beyond repair

References to Dukes of Hazard shall not be used because they have a Confederate flag painted on the roof of their car.
Despite the fact that Hollywood wrote The Dukes of Hazard scripts to poke fun at grits, rednecks, and crackers.
But that doesn’t matter... because SJW’s are bothersome tyrants.
I’ve seen car jumping scenes in which the chassis was clearly undrivably bent at landing. In fact they’d cut away fast from the landing because it was so obvious and the car had 2 more minutes of chase scene to run. (There has got to be a hell of a lot of crippled stunt drivers out there).
Foley then fled the scene. Helicopters were used to find him.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for a broken back, WBBH reported.
...
Only in Florida would they need a helicopter to track down a drunk with a broken back.
I remember in about 1979 or 1980, “That’s Incredible” featured some idiot who tried jumping over the St. Lawrence River (with a souped up TBird, IIRC) and he barely made it halfway over, if that, lol.
He lammed, but them he slammed.
Was any hood sliding involved?
“His license was previously revoked”
Some members of the subspecies “Florida Man” are born with revoked diver’s licenses. It is only prudent.
A Nissan Versa? Needs more power!
"I thought you could do it!"

They had 10 or more of them. The jump/stunt cars were reinforced but only able to drive for the close-ups and then went straight to the shop.
Same for “Starsky & Hutch.”
“Mendelbaum,
Mendelbaum,
Mendelbaum!”
What, you think your better than me?
The Mendelbaums...LOL!!
I have heard that there were 40 or so cars on the Dukes of Hazard set. Most were being repaired for the next jump.
Or “SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT” style
Some have argued for climate change legislation, as a means to prevent the further spread of Florida Man, before it is too late. Especially now that Florida Man has been observed driving motor vehicles, the potential for rapid spread, is all too real.
