Today’s Cryptogram

GK TWVSRLGVU ETBSSF NVEJP, CVN MVQT QVLCTEP VUSF CBWT LNV CBUAP? –QGSLVU DTEST

Today’s CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Solution to our last puzzle:

Ugh - 45 minutes.

Finding something that works in both “CVN” and “LNV” was the first step, which then made “QVLCTEP” apparent.

5:20 min. Got first word first since it was question. Tried to find “e”s. Guessed at last 4 letters in 2nd word. Rest of letters were plugged in. Fun puzzle today.

For me, completely stumped.

Then, I decided to work on six letter word with double letter in position 4 and 5.

That word unlocked the author, then the quote

An now it’s BONUS puzzle time!!

Yes, it’s BONUS time once again. That laughable time when you get to solve a humorous quote from a classic funny movie, comedian, or entertainer. The trick is, unlike nikos puzzle where you don’t want to post spoilers, with the BONUS puzzle it’s a race for first solution posted, BUT you don’t post the solution directly, You post a funny pic ,gif, or meme that shows you solved it. First pic or gif wins the prize with full bragging rights. Honorable mentions for all original pic or gif posts.

Don’t get wrapped up in how easy or hard it is. Just solve it and post something funny and share the fun.

Today’s puzzle should be fun and easy. But it will date me. Younger FReepers may have to expand their comedy history knowledge. Be creative with your replies 😝

Here it is (with anticipation and drum roll). Ready, set, solve:

UJXW KCW IUL ZLEWTP "AIY SZG UWZL Z OJBK CITQW KI KCW HZKWT PYK AZ SZG'K UIIX JG CJQ FIYKC." - ZTSCJW PYGXWT

about 5 minutes.
This CG is questionable. ha ha ha.
Guessed first word, added second word ending which led to the eighth word which led to the third word and then the rest just filled in. I did have the second part of the first word wrong but that took care of itself at the end.

Seriously?

6:48.32 and 5:20?

What do you use to get the detailed seconds?

a stopwatch?

Ok, this took me about 4 minutes to get started, the fell quickly after that. I realized the three letter word started a question the had to work to create the other three letter word. I also don’t usually expect slang in your official post, though I get away with it in my Bonus Posts. 🤣

Stopwatch on Windows 10. I tee up the cryptogram, click the stopwatch when I start and when I finish. It’s the most honest way I know of. I don’t feel I am in competition with anyone. My iPad and Phone also have stopwatches.

I had surgery on 6/3 and am still taking opiods, which may slow me down a tad.

Finding something that works in both “CVN” and “LNV”

Since they couldn't be "the" and "men" I suspected the correct value for CVN but abandoned that trail. I would have done better had I followed my gut.

Nice one :-) Difficult, though. Not sure what exactly brought the breakthrough…
