Todays Cryptogram
JQZ PDN NYA OJYI PYSBK JQZ OUDVV JQSBKO SO JQZ PDN NYA JQSBC NYAMZ DFYTZ ZTZMNYBZ ZVOZ. ---CDMSBD QDMJ
Todays CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
I THINK OF A HERO AS SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE DEGREE OF RESPONSIBILITY THAT COMES WITH HIS FREEDOM. ---BOB DYLAN
2 min. Slow start on the contraction.
Wow!
4:17.29
ZVOZ is a trap. It’s not common one, it’s the other one.
The contraction is a gimme. I would have done better starting there than on the last word.
need MOAR coffee!
Then I left out the first letter of the contraction because I wasn't sure.
See what I mean about coffee?
Happy Father’s Day to everyone! 2 min, all of my favorite things, a contraction, two easy 3 letter words. But my internal bet was wrong...no reference to fathers.
Thanks again Nikos for my morning pick me up.
Finally got one. Went pretty quickly after starting from the contraction, but I don’t think I beat anyone’s record here.
45 secs, avoided the trap altogether by starting with most common letter. Pretty fast fill in after that.
After transcribing the previous word, the common one never csme to mind. I was doing words instead of letters on this one.
5:17 had a couple false starts and small problems.
3 and 1/2 min. Got the “e”, solved the contraction, the rest fell into place. Happy Fathers Day everyone.
Googling the quote gets me a different author. Googling the author gets me porn.
-PJ
I generally do “words” but I scan for obvious letter patterns PEOPLE THAT/ELSE. The letters from these help me see words and common expressions.
Both “authors” have the same last name. If you get the quote, the (purported) author falls out.
Googling the quote and the author separately, I get the same results as you.
I checked on the author and looked accurate. Directly taken from Arkansas Gazette
3 1/2 minutes.
The contractions always make them easier.
