Our 'Greeneyes' has been FOUND, but she is STILL having computer issues, so I have been asked to keep the Weekly Garden Thread rolling until she returns.
That said, I will be posting once a week, and I will TRY to stick to her schedule of a Friday Night/Saturday Morning Weekly Post, but it depends upon what is going on here at MY farm. (It's Spring; it's BUSY!)
The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

There isn't going to be enough silage for livestock this winter.
Sure, lets burn corn for reduced 'Btu's in our fuel tanks.
I don't think that the average consumer is aware of the economic impact that flooding will have in their pocketbook,
much less the economic and physical hardship will be on farming and farm families.
I think this photo should be on the lead-off page of this weeks gardening/farming forum, .. (JMO).
The expression : "A picture says more than a thousand words" is more than appropriate here.
I have two topics right off the bat for tomorrow mornings post.
Corn & Soybean lack-o-production and ‘7 Smokeable Plants’ from a ping from Red Badger.
Unless things turn around QUICK, my garden is really going to bite this season. I mean, in a DROUGHT YEAR (2012) I probably had the best garden production ever - because, of course, I COULD get water to my garden.
This season? SO much rain and overcast skies are really stunting growth - big time! Grrrr!
What kind of turtle is that? I’ve never seen one of those in Real Life. Just the big Snappers and the Painted Turtle which has red on their shells and face/neck/feet.
We were running errands in The Big City one day and there was a bunch of cars stopped ahead of us. A HUGE Snapper was in the middle of the road, refusing the budge.
My ‘Jethro’ gets out of our truck, takes the Snapper by the tail, and ‘escorts’ it to the side of the road. Everyone clapped and he just said, ‘City Folk!’ LOL!
It the eastern box turtle. That one was big probably 60 years old at least. When I get some time I’m going to compare it to one I took a picture of last year, I think they ae the same one. BW best and safest way to move a big snapper is to pick up a long stick and they will bite it and hang on and you can take them across the road. I’m going to ping you in a few with a flower identification picture.
Primrose???
I don’t think so, leaf structure is all wrong and primrose are short plants.
I’m hoping maybe just higher prices and no food shortages.
I bet there aren’t many people who are aware of this problem.

I’ve been in a 10 hour canning frenzy.
I did beef, pork, spaghetti sauce with meat, strawberry jam and apricot pineapple jam.
I wanted to do orange marmalade and pinto beans but I ran out of steam.
I might start really trying to sock in some extra stuff.
I don’t have a lot of room.
Maybe I can start storing it under the bed and all kinds of odd places.
Missouri primrose? Never heard of it - will have to look it up thanks. But how did I get it in Michigan?? I have not seen it anywhere before. Mystery.
Weird, I am reading the flowers last only a day, not around here, and that they are 12” tall or less, mine are always at least 3 feet or taller. Must be a domesticated variety but I still don’t know where I got it. Thanks for the help.
My ‘frenzy’ will be late in the season, if at all this year.
My wants are simple - I need V-8 Juice and Salsa. I can live without the rest, LOL!
