This goes out to all the Illinois Freepers --- at least those of us who are left. Are there any besides Lurker and I?
The purpose of this thread is to find out who's left here in this Socialist Hell-Hole run by Fat Boy JB Pritzker, the puppet of Mike Madigan. Let's get together, enjoy a few adult beverages and brainstorm about our plans to either get the hell out of this state, or participate in saving it during the next election.
I personally think this state is lost and we should drink ourselves to oblivion and get the hell out of here. Some of you may have other ideas. I don't know.
In either case, we Illinois Freepers used to be pretty active "back in the day" having met with the great Henry Hyde, who led the charge in the House and Senate to impeach and remove Bill Clinton, harassed Bill Clinton where ever he went in/around Chicago, researched and outed Barack Obama and his association with Jeremiah Wright and so much more.
Illinois Freepers have a history, a good history. Our state is often mocked (Hell, I do much of that myself) and being in the same state as the Murder Capital of the U.S. Shitcago sure gives the rest of the state a bad name.
Dammit anyway, it's time to get the band back together and commiserate.
What say you all? I believe many of us are in Will and DuPage counties, some are in far western and southwestern C(r)ook County and I believe there's a few in Northwest Indiana that may be interested in as well.
Venue to be chosen, likely in the West/Southwest Suburbs and likely a brew-pub. Interest in good beer, good food and getting to know your fellow Illinois Freepers is a must.
We used to be a friendly group ... probably still are, though I've gotten much older and if you step on my lawn prepare for war, but still, friendly.
Respond to this thread or freepmail. Looking to setup something in mid-July based on interest.
USC.
Please ping the Illinois Freepers you know to this thread and ask that they ping others they know in this socialist shithole Illinois.
You could post it to the state message board, and then anyone who identifies as “Illinois” on FR will see it...

Bonemaker here stagnating in Lake County. I’d do it but don’t drive when I am drunk.
Railroaded here near Peoria.
Make that “Railroader.”
Springfield here.
NO! I do not, nor have I ever worked for the state in any way whatsoever (except paying taxes).
Sorry I cant join you for drinks (God knows we need a drink to live here now and then) but it is a bit too far for me.
Dont forget us downstate folks and hang in there.
why?
fulltlt in Kane county.
You forgot McHenry county. I am on the verge of moving. Next spring, because I can’t do it sooner. The legal weed is great for many, but it is a manifestation of the fact that the state is out of money and needs more cash flow. I don’t think it’s going to work as anyone plans... I think the political machines will just expand and eat that cash too. Grassroots pushes to excise Chicago from the state would be great, but are basically symbolic, and don’t include Springfield. Too bad, too, because there are a lot of nice places once you get an hour plus out of Chiraq in just about any direction.
FReeper PhilCollins left Illinois for Nevada about two years ago, but he and his wife moved back to Illinois here a few months ago. Chicagolady also left Illinois (for Texas) but is now back.
Probably the best way to get people's attention is to ping them individually or post about it in the state forum page. I'm open to an Illinois FReeper meetup this summer. After all I've been on this website for over a decade.
Ah, yes! That brings back old memories. I still have Henry Hyde's autograph around the house somewhere. I met him in person in the early 2000s, post Clinton impeachment.
When I met Newt Gingrich in person in Ames, Iowa back in 2007, the guy was a total a-hole and I remember vocally complaining about it on FR. Someone made the excuse that he behaved that way because he wasn't running for anything at the time and was only there to give a speech and sell books. Well, Henry Hyde wasn't running for anything at the time I met him and was only there to give a speech. The guy was a very down-to-earth, friendly gentleman who took time to talk to me. 180 degree difference between Newt making his appearance a tacky attempt to con people into paying handsomely for an on-the-spot informal photo-op.
The one I missed out on was right after the Clinton impeachment when a group of Illinois FReepers met David Schippers in person in Chicago to give him some award. Nobody invited me or pinged me about the event beforehand. Grrr.
“Railroaded”
“Make that Railroder”
The former is probably closer to the truth than the latter.
Im still here. I dont post very much but I read FR every day. We finally escaped Crook County for Will about 1,5 yrs ago but are stuck in Illinois for at least 5 more. A Freepers meet-up would be great. I went to a Freepers convention in Las Vegas years ago.
We used to live in Michigan & traveled to the southwest alot.
Call it quirky, but we used to drive around the state, adding hundreds of miles to the trip just to avoid entering it.
Going through Chicago would have been more direct. But, no thanks.
I’m here in
South Eastern Kane
Our Central Committee is
starting to organize regular
Pints & Politics gatherings
More info to follow.

“Sorry I cant join you for drinks (God knows we need a drink to live here now and then) but it is a bit too far for me.”
It 201 miles to Chicago. All you need is a full tank of gas and a half pack of cigarettes:)
I’m in east central IL now, but still have family in Will County. A meet up would be nice, but it depends on the date for me.
Chicago is the economic powerhouse of the entire region. It is filled with fantastic places to go and to see (things unavailable outside the big cities.)
And that doesn’t even get into the fabulous food from great joints all over the city.
I suppose morons are ignorant of such things.
All joking aside, God bless all of you, and good luck.
