LAREDO, Texas The edges of this small border city bustle with activity as construction vehicles clear flat expanses of land for massive warehouses, and semi-trucks moving American and Mexican goods appear to cover every inch of roadway. To James Gonzalez, 33, the sterile, boxy buildings and traffic congestion only a few miles from the five bridges that connect the U.S. to Mexico represent financial success and future business opportunities. The city's fortunes, based entirely on trade between the two countries, is forever tied to the United States kinship with or animus for its southern neighbor. The closeness of that relationship can sometimes make the restrictive lines of the national border feel blurry, but with the Trump administrations recent threats of a trade war, they have become increasingly stark.

So, Call your congress Critter and yell at them.
Old news we have moved on. Maybe you all should also!
Cheesy, cliched personalized cold open.
Guess what? Speed limit laws prevent me from getting to the beach in less than 2 hrs. Bank robbery laws keep me from getting all the cash I want.
The closeness of that relationship can sometimes make the restrictive lines of the national border feel blurry...
Well they ####ing SHOULDN’T or why the #### even have separate countries to begin with!?!
And STFU NBC.
It’s been resolved already. Good God!
Another demoralizing anti-Trump article from the #FakeNews media.
They don’t want separate countries ... that’s why they’re called globalists ...
Of course! The Fake News has to gin up pain and suffering for the border towns because of meanie Trump’s not-even-in-effect tariff! There just is absolutely no letup in the Deep State open border agenda, is there!
“...The city’s fortunes, based entirely on trade between the two countries..”
If that’s all Laredo has, it is pretty much useless...
Oh yeah...
Thanks for reminding me :)
Besides being a non-issue now, Guess who buys jumex and bimbo products anyway?? The same people that are costing us billions in support. The local communities are fine with that as long as it's other people's money.
Meanwhile Americans have been feeling the stress of tens of millions of illegals and the politicians who support them, who’ve been gang banging the tax payers and choking off our system in every direction for many decades.
These people operate no differently than infiltrating enemy agents would.
FAKE NEWS. Steve Burke should move his family to Loredo if he is so concerned about it. What ya say Stevie?
Maybe James Gonzales should have been asked to explain his understanding of how tariffs work?
To the globalists, the Uniparty, and their corporate media allies, its all about money and power.
For the Kate Steinle's of the country, well...to make the omelette, its necessary that a few eggs be broken. Sorry (not).
But how much pain and suffering are these border towns going through anyway? The simple dumping of this swarm of illegal entrants has to be throwing a near-impossible load on the resources of these localities, for simply being host to people who have very limited funds, no means of support, and no way to return home by their own resources. Many are sick with sometimes highly communicable diseases, and most all of them will demand medical attention, greatly beyond the capacity of the local facilities to contend with.
The Cloward-Piven strategy of Saul Alinsky applied with a vengeance.
Bull shit. The stress of being FORCED by LAW to pay for benefits for people who are invading their town is much more stressful.
Well, Im in San Antonio and I feel stressed because of the 350 Congolese that just moved themselves into this city and theres a nasty new outbreak of Ebola in the Congo reported today
I feel stressed because I am s my family have to abide by vaccination laws or have no access to anything while these most favored do nothing illegal immigrants can bring diseases in while anti vaccination Americans get blamed
Honestly, the mainstream media, NBC in this case, is out to destroy this country. That makes me stressed too
