Furious at the breakout success of the HBO series Chernobyl, Russia is planning to make its own series portraying the nuclear disaster as the work of an American CIA operative.
Russian television broadcaster NTV announced that it had commissioned the series, and principal photography has already begun in Belarus under director Alexei Muradov.
In response to the HBO series' depiction of Soviet bureaucrats bungling the response both during and after the 1986 nuclear accident in the Ukrainian SSR, the Russian version plans to tell the tale of a heroic KGB agent trying to thwart a supposed CIA sabotage plot.

So, total fiction, then.
They know a good percentage of half of American voters and many public schools will watch it at least once.
When you have to lie to yourself...you are doomed.
And, thus, the old Soviet fell apart under the weight of 70 years of lies on top of lies.
I’ve been in the old Soviet - lived and worked there shortly after the fall. How anyone could believe the crap the PTB spooned out beggars belief...
This last 2 years we have slandered and economically damaged Russia based on a lie told by Hillary Clinton. Russia is still recovering from the economic and political cruelties of communism, and we should never do anything that but help this suffering and tragic nation. Instead, we have pretended Russia interfered with our election, which they really did not save for a few political ads benefiting both sides which had no effect whatsoever, and caused them significant economic harm which they could ill afford. Worse, we have done nothing about China and Mexico who really have interfered enormously. The hypocrisy is shocking. I hope this this slander is all that they do to pay us back for our injustice, and I hope that our stupidity does not drive Russia back into communism/sovietism and a re-start of the cold war and creation of an iron determination to take us down.
The Dims lie to themselves a LOT
Then you probably remember the popular Russian saying about the Soviet press, Using the names of two of the major news agencies, Pravda (Truth) and Izvestia (News)
В Правда нет известия, И В известия нет Правда
"In the Truth there is no News, and in the News there is no Truth."
;)
“The Dims lie to themselves a LOT”
They certainly do.
The Truth to them is whatever they want it to be at a particular time.
They rely on the ignorance and stupidity of their supporters to not know better.
i didn’t know we still have russian trolls here ...
the russians are still engaged in trying to re-establish the old Soviet Union by attacking Ukraine and annexing Crimea, and continue to oppose U.S. world interests at every turn, including violating pretty much all economic sanctions agains countries such as Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela ...

a few big bits of fiction on the HBO miniseries as well
Such as?
I’d like to see a version w/ plant operators and engineers discussing it over dinner with hard adult beverages explain the technological and decision making errors and they can even even use and easel. Everything else is kabuki theater.
Ulyana Khomyuk, Emily Watson’s Character is made up out of whole cloth.
Just proves once again by their profuse lying and projection that Russia = Communism = US Liberalism = Democrats.
coming this summer on the Sci-Fi channel
Quick, get Mueller back for another $30 million investigation!
Not "made up out of whole cloth", more like "here's a composite character that stands in for the dozens of people who actually did the work". This is often a necessity when doing a film or TV production - you have limited time to establish roles, and you don't want to overwhelm the audience.
I also don't mind the fact they made the composite character a woman, even if women were in the minority of this group that was composited. Once again, the needs of the medium: you are making a visual story, and the characters need to instantly stand out from each other, especially when they are wearing common clothes. Sex, skin color, hair color, facial hair, glasses, body weight, age - they can be used to quickly establish differing characters.
(Ah, so long as the woman character doesn't make her gender an issue in the story. Which didn't happen in "Chernobyl".)
