Residents of a neighborhood in Las Vegas got an unwelcome surprise in the form of an airplane door falling out of the sky and hitting an apartment building and car.
The incident took place near Nellis Air Force Base, which is just northeast of Las Vegas. It is unclear what type of plane the debris fell off, but it did not appear to come from a civilian aircraft.

Given the way our government is going, they’ll arrest whoever picks it up for theft of Government property.

Looks like an access panel. Definitely military. Interesting weather stripping.

I’m sure aircraft maintenance crews at Nellis know exactly what that is and which plane it blew off of.

You had a more can do crew. I had an unscheduled stay on Johnston Atoll when the crew could not secure the door and we got to look at all the nerve gas bunkers with the admonition to not take pictures while they tried to figure out the problem.

LOL
Off of the North end of the runways is a dry lake bed.
It is littered with all kinds of ‘aircraft’ parts.

Then again, it may have come off of a Mexican Military plane that “strayed off course” while making a cocaine delivery! I am left wondering if they will find the body of the person who decided to open it in flight? They might look for a swarthy male with a load of drugs in his rectum.

Not all that uncommon. Ive had access panels blow open in flight on brand new aircraft.

I guess Roger Ramjet was going too fast to get his tail number.
If you had, he’d be grounded in a heartbeat, not for endangering you, but for endangering the aircraft.

Based on the width of that concrete joint, it's far too small to be even a landing gear door.
Access panel (with stealth-enhancement "weatherstripping")?

Yup, access panel not a door. One side obviously is hinged but the three latches on the other side, by the weather stripping wouldn't be used on a crew access "door".
The color would be unique to HH-60s of the 66th RQS Jolly Green Giants based at Nellis. No other USAF plane is green now.
Could also be army but the shade of green appears wrong for the army UH-60s.
