I wouldn’t get one, but that’s just me.

Do what you feel is best in this allegedly free country.

For what it’s worth, on Saturday I went to get the 2nd shingrax vaccine for shingles & I asked if my insurance covered the MMR. It did & no cost, so I got that too. My mom was sure we got all the vaccines, but I work with children & I want to be safe with all the outbreaks.

The pharmacist mentioned that the measles numbers were scaring people. I have been thinking about getting the MMR vaccine for awhile & I do feel some sense of security now.

If you don’t mind saying, what shots did you get? Saturday I had the MMR vaccine & at the end of summer I am getting the Trap. There’s just too many unvaccinated people & it freaks me out.

I got the pneumonia shot several years ago.

A couple of years later I asked my doctor about the Prevnar-13 that had been advertised heavily on TV. He said I should get it — since it had been a couple of years after the initial pneumonia shot.

I have not asked him about the shingles 2-shot yet, but I had the original the same day I got the pneumonia shot.

I should have that done. My husband had the test, and he’s immune, even though he has no history of having measles..

Polio, chicken pox, the whole list that on the CDC list for kids and young adults.

I just went to Walgreens. There’s a bit of a waiting time for some of them. All in, I think it cost $75/family member.

Also, I also travel a LOT (I teach people how to use certain flight equipment related to the military), including to some less-developed places that purchase Israeli and US arms. So I have quite the list.

I had measles in Wasilla, AK about 6 years ago. That was my booster.

Daughter-in-law made me get a DPT booster when her baby was born, before I could even go see them in the hospital. (She’s a doctor, so there you go...)

You’re lucky. Mumps was the worst of the lot. I was 9 and it hurt so bad I remember wishing I could die.

Your doctor can check titers to see if you need a booster.

Correct. I got my titers done and in my mid-fifties still have triple the level needed for immunity on those and natural chicken pox immunity from having had holding stronger still.

Many of the new immigrants and travelers are bringing diseases that we long ago had eliminated in this country.

Great plot for a future-fiction novel: World runs out of vaccines and only us old fogies who actually had the diseases are left to run things.

A titer test can be done easily. I need one because I’m still not fully immunized after my bone marrow transplant. I’ve only had one NMR so far. So, my transplant dr needs me to get a titer test. But, I’d think the average person shouldn’t need one.

Yea, I was supposed to do it a few weeks ago. I get so burn out with drs appointments. Now my 86 year old mom has Hodgkins. She’s doing ok considering. But, if I was burn out from drs appointments before, you can imagine now.

Not having had mumps, no basis for comparison. I do know that whooping cough was no walk in the park....the rest of'em that I had were trivial compared to that. Both of us avoided the worst of the worst....polio.
