Family unhappy after Walmart graduation cake turns out to be Styrofoam

A high school graduate was ready to celebrate her big day with cake — until she realized the cake was Stryofoam, KPRC reports.

Not only did they mess up one time, they did it twice."

First, on the morning of the ceremony, Flores was at Walmart to pick up a two-tier cake when they told her they lost her order.

To make it up to her, the store agreed to give her another cake for free. She selected a smaller cake.

The bakery put a picture onto the cake and added a few extra embellishments on the frosting before handing off the dish to Flores.

It wasn't until the knife hit the cake, however, that the family realized it wasn't a cake at all.

Underneath the frosting was just a rectangle of Styrofoam.

Walmart gave them a $60 gift certificate after the family complained.

Low in carbohydrates and fats, reusable, does not attract flies or rodents, durable, no mess if it is dropped, does not require refrigeration...

Lots of fiber and leaves your teeth clean.

“It’s a desert”
“No, it’s wall insulation“
“Stop. You’re both right!”

How do you mistake a Styrofoam cake for a real one? Cake weighs much more than a similarly sized piece of Styrofoam.

A few years ago, I encountered a woman and two kids angrily leaving a dinosaur exhibition in Atlanta. As she came out she was angrily telling anyone in line not to bother... the dinosaurs were made out of plastic, they weren’t real. Funny, except terribly sad...and these people can vote.

Isn’t styrofoam low calorie? What’s the complaint?

The whole family could have eaten the cake, claimed it made them sick, then sued for gazillions.

I bought a birthday cake near Fort Worth several months ago. It was supposed to be a white cake, but it was more like yellow cake. And it was not substantial like their cakes I’ve had elsewhere. It was more fluffy, like cake from a box mix. I prefer cake that has some heft, like typical white wedding cake. I was surprised that a Wal-Mart cake was so different from what I’m used to.

My wife went to a Kroger/Fred Meyer about 10 years ago and asked for a birthday cake for me. I have a unique Scandinavian name.

When told, the employee crinkled her face and asked “What kind of name is that??”

They also asked her if she was on hard times for asking where the coinstar machine was.

After a brief letter I wrote to management, my wife reported that her subsequent visit had a large number of executives wearing suits through the store...

Power of the pen is mightier than the frosting...
