I saw Godzilla, King of the Monsters today.
I've been a fan of the big lizard since I was a kid. However, I was disappointed in the movie today.
I won't give any spoilers.
Special effects are very good.
Plot line is good.
My problem with the movie, and this may not bother others, was the use of profanity, especially taking God's name, throughout the movie.
There is also a reference to God as "she".
I would recommend avoidance of this movie for these reasons.
Sadly, this will be my last Godzilla movie I will go see.
I liked it. I liked that the villain was a woman. Values wise, They had much which reflected today’s Hollywood projection. But they kept close to the original. And it looked like tireons dad kept his outfit from game of thrones.
Is James Gandolfini in it? Because I thought he was King of the Mobsters.
Rodan beats Godzirra.
I will say it understates the use of God's name. I counted four and about six references to "Jesus".,p> I never knew His name could be an adjective or verb or adverb.
Let’s say if it’s a race, you want Rodan on your side...if it’s a fight.....no way.

That etymology is logical too.
kame = turtle
ra = word suffix indicating monster
But if they’d have made it “kame -ra” then it sounds too much like CAMERA, which in Japanese is exactly the same word as in engrish. People would have been thinking “cheese!” and Sony and Pentax, and all that.
Similarly:
Moth = Mosu
ra= monster suffix
Mosura (which is how you pronounce it in Japan) = Moth monster
The one I don’t get is “Kingu Gidora” cuz what in hell is a GIDO..? That one I don’t know, don’t know where it comes from.
Please fix your name. Just ask Jim to correct it.

Gratuitous profanity is a huge turn off for me. I understand there are occasions where its use may come into play with realistic weight and sense, but a Godzilla film is certainly not the place. Good call on your part.

Whenever some delusional lib cries over Hiroshima and Nagasaki I point out that we would not have Godzilla movies were it not for that.
The original Japanese Godzillas we’re good because they were cheesy. Godzilla had attitude and the Japanese we’re a riot.

I would stay up until 1:00 am to watch on TBS back in the day. And that was when TBS was about as punctual as Obama.
He's ugly and pink like a PIG. And most Japanese movie goers already know that engrish word, so they hijacked it, Japanizing pig as PIGU, as they almost all pronounce it.
If they had stuck to the old formula, this character would have been PIGU-RA, but for the MONSTER "ra" they instead this time hijacked half of MONster, and used that istead.
Ergo:
"Pigu mon", spelled pigmon in English.
