VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Reuters) - The gunman who killed 12 people at a Virginia Beach municipal building before dying in a gun battle with police was identified on Saturday as a disgruntled city engineer and co-worker of most of the victims. All but one of the victims from the mass shooting in the coastal resort community were employed by the city, officials said at a news conference, while the other was a contractor seeking a permit. Four people were wounded.
The gunman, DeWayne Craddock, had worked for the city’s public utilities department for about 15 years, Virginia Beach Police Chief James Cervera said at a news conference.

I have seen "silenced .45 cal", but not the 1911A1 part.
There are many autoloaders which also fire .45 ACP, quite a few of which are easier to add a suppressor to.

In Massachusetts it is not legal to call yourself an engineer regardless of academic degrees unless you are a licensed professional engineer. Most Ph.D. electrical engineers are not licensed professional engineers, meaning they cannot sign off on plans for a swimming pool.

I really like Virginia Beach. A lot of retired Navy officers live there. Wonderful place. I’ve vacationed at the Cavalier, a fine hotel on the ocean.
If they did mention his race, we all know it would be in the context of “Look what White America has driven this educated African American to do”. They are experts is using everything. It is how they have come this far, and quite possibly may end up being how they “won”.
We lived there and loved it. I’ve been back a few times in the last few years, and it has grown so much and is full of crazy, impatient people. I’d call em Yankees, but that might offend. Hahaha. Our children who attended school there learned a ton more than our youngest children have at their common core schools. Virginia did not adopt common core.
Lots of engineers don’t have their PE much less their EIT and it doesn’t slow down careers.

A true M1911A1 model would have to have alteration to accept a suppressor— an extended threaded barrel, or custom alteration. There are lot’s of 45 ACPs that are made to accept the suppressor (which needs to be fairly long/big— loud weapon).
I’ve run into a few that brush their teeth during the day.
Maybe if I did, I could have saved myself expensive dental care.
