But they are still Dodges. Maybe the man in the trunk is a dealer add on option for when the piece junk breaks down.

They do.
So this man wanted to be in the trunk.
My guess is he was trying to smuggle his way into the auction. Maybe he was gonna car jack the Hellcat on the way to the auction.
But the process took longer than he expected and then things took a turn for the worse for him.
