Back When, in Chicago, if the Outfit wanted to send a message, a guy would be found in the trunk of his own car in O'Hare long term parking.
The cops would cruise the lots in the spring, with the windows open, sniffing...

Manheim is THE best auto auction group.
You can get great deals, there. They give you an independent review, too.

Ah...he was trying to steal it and locked himself in the trunk.
Cheaper to fix the trunk lid than a window or door and no evidence when you drive it away.
I did this once and it works if you are small enough.

Practically all new cars now have an ‘escape’ lever or cable to open the trunk from the inside................

If he drove it off the lot and the man was wanted, he could have been busted for harboring a fugitive.

Is the body in the trunk a new option? An extra $3000 option? 😀

Thats been Federally mandate for at least a dozen years now. A buddy bought a Lotus Elise, and we got to see it soon after he got it when we met up for the races at Sebring. We all got a good laugh out of the fact that the breadbox-sized trunk had an emergency inside release pull cable. Of course, any person small enough to fit would have been an infant small enough to not be able to pull the cable.

From some of the Dodge Hellcat acceleration videos on youtube, he very well could have started out in the front seat and just hit the gas too hard :-)

"A buddy bought a Lotus Elise, and we got to see it soon after he got it when we met up for the races at Sebring." I've loved Lotuses ever since I saw the Esprit as a kid in "The Spy Who Loved Me." That said, I also have to chuckle at Jeremy Clarkson's quip about "Lotus" being an acronym for, "Lots of Trouble, Usually Serious."
