May 27, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) Speaking with one of the best-known conservative Jews, Dennis Prager, at the PragerU summit last week, world-famous psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke of God and his views of faith. After speaking about his dislike for the question Do you believe in God? Peterson said, I think that Catholicism that's as sane as people can get.
Peterson has often been asked about his faith, if he believes in God, and he said the question has always troubled him. He promised a podcast on the matter since he has given his dislike for the question much thought.
He explained, Who would have the audacity to claim that they believed in God if they examined the way they lived? Who would dare say that?
To believe, in a Christian sense, he added, means that you live it out fully and that's an that's an unbearable task in some sense.
Then in one long drawn-out, rapid-fire thought, the type that has enthralled his millions of fans, he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:
To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.

By church you mean an organization whereas the intention was for the believers (ekklesia) to be the pillars.
“church of the Living God” ... is not the Catholic or Roman Catholic Church ORG (rhymes with Borg). The Body of Christ, the Ekklesia of all believers throughout time (THAT IS the church referred to) will not have blasphemers and pagan cult members unless they have forsaken their cults and been born from above, born again. Disagree? Well, you are staking your immortal soul on the traditions of men and you teach these traditions which are some even contrary to the Word of God. So, you’re not just betting your soul upon this ORG you are strapping others to it, too!

This is where Roman Catholicism is in contradiction of the Scriptures. In Hebrews it is abundantly clear the offering has already been made and it was only ONE offering.
*******
12but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time
, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, 13waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET.
14For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
15And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,
Hebrews 10:12-15 NASB
********
In Hebrews 7:27 we have the contrast of the OT, and what I believe to be what Roman Catholicism is doing, with what Christ did.
who does not need daily, (this is what Roman Catholicism is doing today...daily offerings)
like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, (this is what Roman Catholicism is doing today...daily)
********
1 Peter 3:18 reiterates this:
because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
********
There is no other conclusion than Rome is in grave error on this issue.
Τετέλεσται, it has been finished. (John 19:30)
This is where you're getting Catholicism wrong. We AGREE with that.
The Church is the believers.
How very subtle is your deceit!
Tagline
I assure you HE does every day. In fact, without HIS hands I would stumble into as deep a morass of error as you have fallen. I pray that GOD’s Spirit will deliver you from the darkness you’ve embraced, for your sake and that of those you are leading down the wrong path.
I’m glad we’re praying for each other.
Very true, both paragraphs.
Thanks for those Truths and expanding upon my comments with wisdom in such an uplifting manner.
The foundation is NOT the apostles and prophets...The foundation of the apostles and prophets is Jesus Christ...More specifically, the words of Jesus Christ, the Bible...
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The perceived pillars don't build the foundation...They built upon the foundation...
1Co 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.
1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
The foundation that Paul laid is the words of Jesus Christ...
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
More specifically, the words of Jesus Christ, the scriptures...
Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
So what is the church of the living God???
1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
The church of the living God is the house of God...And the house is spiritual...It is not physical...The church is not a building or a group of cardinals or a pope or a Magisterium or a visible institution...It is spiritual...You can't see it...And again, the pillar (singular) and ground (singular) of the truth is the words of the living God...
If you would check a variety of translations, you will get the solid realization that we, the church, God's assembly, are to be this pillar and foundation upholding the truth, which is Jesus ("I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life").
And they all disagree with each other...Why would I use sources that disagree with each other...That would be like reading the Septuagint...
WHAT is the pillar and foundation( or ground - buttress - base - strong foundation- support - foundation-stone) of the Truth? It is the church
Well that's a flat out lie...
--- the ekklesia ("called-out ones"), us, the members of the church.
I don't believe your Church has ever portrayed itself as the ekklesia...Can the members of your Church vote out your pope, cardinals or bishops, or the magisterium??? Your Church is known as an institution...It's 'head' is in Rome and even claims your Church is actually Jesus Christ (his body)...
However, the scriptures always straighten out the false teachings of Rome...
Thank you .. to Christ be the Glory.
I hear ya bro. I think, however, it is just a matter of time, before a catholic comes along and tells you, that FReeping is just as bad as blogging. Therefore, you are guilty of committing a venial sin.
When I was a catholic, I was always told, to try to avoid committing venial sins, cuz they lead to mortal sins. Your penance, should you decide to accept it, is to create a great Limerick. Yours truly will be the judge of your Limerick. If it does not measure up to my standards, then you are guilty of a mortal sin, cuz you went to confession, trying to deceive the priest. 🤣 I know, cuz I always went into the confessional, and lied to the priest. I thought he was getting his jollies, when I told him some of my racy sins. I always lied to the priest after that. I just didnt care about venial/ mortal sins. 👍
Boatbums was nice enough to research venial/mortal sins. After I looked at it, I didnt even know what the word is means. 😂 I left the Catholic Church in 1970, just before going to Vietnam. That sir, was the ultimate horror of horrors. Leaving the Catholic Church I mean, not going to Vietnam, even though I hated the place. Since no one ever heard of IPhone X, blogging, internet, Apple Macs, or anything, I am wondering who the enterprising individual was, who added those venial sins to the Catholic sin list? I wonder if it is considered infallible? 🙃Inquiring minds would like to know. 😆😁
For mortal sins you go to confession.
For venial ones there’s a concession.
Most folks don’t know,
The real difference though.
That’s why there’s a lot of transgression.
AGAIN?
You know what bro? Since there are masses going on every single moment of every single day, and since the catholic church tells us that Jesus, in humble obedience, comes down from Heaven, when summoned by the priest, is Jesus ever in Heaven? Does he ever have time to fellowship with anyone, since he seems to never be there, since all the priests are constantly calling him down from Heaven? If thousands of priests are constantly calling him down to the mass, at the same time, how does he decide which priest should be humbly obeyed first? Maybe by the time he shows up at the last mass, everyone has gone to sleep on the pew bench. A conundrum, no?
I could certainly agree with that, but if one would rather stay in the false teachings of Rome, then we have a problem. 👍
Mrs.D, I know in your mind it's not an ongoing sacrifice. I'm sure you've convinced yourself of that.
However, Roman Catholicism's own writings, which are the official position of Roman Catholicism, say otherwise.
There is no further offering or representation of that offering per Scripture.
When we participate in the Lord's Supper as Paul described it, we "do this in remembrance of Him".
It is not to attain salvation, but a result of salvation already obtained.
Nicely done.
I just KNEW it wouldn’t please you!
