Jordan Peterson on Catholicism: ‘That’s as sane as people can get’
LifeSiteNews ^ | May 27, 2019 | John-Henry Westen

Posted on 05/29/2019 12:37:41 PM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

May 27, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Speaking with one of the best-known conservative Jews, Dennis Prager, at the PragerU summit last week, world-famous psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke of God and his views of faith. After speaking about his dislike for the question ‘Do you believe in God?’ Peterson said, “I think that Catholicism — that's as sane as people can get.”

Peterson has often been asked about his faith, if he believes in God, and he said the question has always troubled him. He promised a podcast on the matter since he has given his dislike for the question much thought.

He explained, “Who would have the audacity to claim that they believed in God if they examined the way they lived? Who would dare say that?”

“To believe, in a Christian sense,” he added, “means that you live it out fully and that's an that's an unbearable task in some sense.”

Then in one long drawn-out, rapid-fire thought, the type that has enthralled his millions of fans, he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:

“To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.”

See the full exchange of Peterson and Prager here.

Very clever, but also very deceit filled. I wrote continuously, as in what O'Brien stated in his 'Faith of Millions'. And I'm sure Muslims use the same assertion that reading their 'holy writings' will convince someone to follow allah and his prophet mo ham head.

You spittled out, "Your entire criticism is based upon a false premise." You fit the saying that there are none so blind as those who refuse to see, ... And you're a teacher in Catholiciism!

Do not accept the Mark when it is commanded to you. No Brown scapulae will save you then. Remember, from one old man to another, DO NOT ACCEPT THE MARK OF THE BEAST TO BUY OR SELL.

“Malachi 1:11
My Name will be great among the Gentiles (nations), from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to Me, because My Name will be great among the nations,” says the Lord Almighty.

“This prophecy of pure offering foreseen by Malachi, occurring in the future time where God’s Holy Name is great among the Gentiles, is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

.........

Sorry to inform you that this passage specifies incense offerings and grain offerings only.

No wine, no bread, no sacrifice. No blood.

You brought mass into the room with you.

The contrast in Malachi is between the evil practice of Israel’s priests at this time (previous verses), and the future pure offerings of gentiles in the millennial kingdom.

.....

“Incense accompanied prayers (cf. Rev. 5:8) and grain offerings were offerings of praise and worship (cf. Heb. 13:15–16).

“In that day people from many places would offer pure offerings. This refers to worship in the Millennium (cf. 3:1–4; Isa. 11:3–4, 9; Dan. 7:13–14, 27–28; Zeph. 2:11; 3:8–11; Zech. 14:9, 16).

Think this through in terms of multivalent prophecy-— having an application also in the NT, as most prophecies do.

I think you are familiar with the fact that many OT prophecies have, in addition to their contemporaneous OT reference, another, wider NT significance.

Thank you.

How many times will we have to post the command of GOD to the Hebrews, throughout ALL THEIR generations FOREVER to not eat the blood? You are stuck on carnal, even though JESUS repeatedly told you believing in HIM brings eternal life.

Feeding upon The Bread of Life is a spiritual sustenance not a belly snack! As Jesus spiritually fed upon the Father/Father's Will, spiritually while speaking in John 6, so He taught believing in Whom GOD sent for our salvation brings eternal life. If you insist on hearing only a carnal message in John 6 you will be just like the ones who walked away from Him, except you Catholics instead of walking away misconstrue the lesson in its entirety and proudly break the command from GOD which is forever and you believe you eat the blood! Jesus -GOD with us- did not and will not and has not changed HIS COMMAND!

He TOLD THE HEBREWS ( His Disciples were all Hebrews/Jews) the command was forever throughout ALL their generations. >p> All manner of blasphemies can be forgiven you, except blasphemy against The Holy Spirit. That will not be forgiven.

Remember, from one old man to another,

  • And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
  • He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
  • And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
  • And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
Luke, Catholic chapter ten, Protestant verses twenty five to twenty eight,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

Peterson is a student and admirer of Carl Yung.

By Yung’s later years, he had moved from an aetheist or agnostic, to a belief in a higher power.

Prager a Jew, has described himself, as an ethical monotheist.

I’ll be loking for this conversatioon.

Protestant Christianity teaches that the “bible alone” is the sole source of authority.
...................................................
Where in the Bible is that “bedrock” truth stated?

It's all over the place...But you have to read the bible to find it...

Sorry to inform you again that Malachi 1:11 specifies only incense and grain.

These are specific offerings in the required Temple sacrificial system.

No wine or bread as the elements of The Lord’s Supper consist of.

No blood. No presence of Christ. No memorial until He returns.

At this point in eschatology, Christ is reigning over the Millennial Kingdom.

Gentiles are bringing these specified offerings in a pure way, in contrast to the impure offerings of the priests in Israel.

That is the point of the passage.

You’ve entered into the territory of seeing a horse in the clouds.

It may look like a horse, but it is not a horse.

God spoke through Malachi and was clear.

Best

Fact of Catholic Church lasting until end of time supported by history. Was there at beginning and still here.
Nothing in the scriptures that say a church will last til the end of time...It talks about the end of the age...And yes your religion will last til the end of the age...The Great Tribulation Age...

Christ died for the Church.
He's married to Her.

Unless the events in Revelation have taken place already, the Groom and his bride are not yet married...They will wed during the events of Revelation...

Jesus was no victim.

He gave His life. Nobody took it from Him.

Can a person do that?

Is it possible to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself?

Do YOU do that?

I have the Word of God direct from the pen of the prophets and Apostles.

And by the Word of God through the Apostles, aka Scripture alone, I learn that I am saved by grace alone, through faith alone, by Christ alone, for the glory of God alone.

I pity you that your mind has been so twisted by Romanism that you won’t even read what the Apostles themselves had to write.

Perhaps you don't think that is actually real or true: but otherwise, it's hard to explain why He said it. When He was challenged on it in John 6, He kept repeating it with all the greater vehemence. People walked away, and He just said it again.

Nah, it's easy to explain...Jesus wanted these freeloaders to move on...He knew they didn't believe in him and weren't going to believe in him...

Never once did any person eat the flesh of Jesus or drink his blood...The disciples knew it was bread and wine...The apostles called it bread and wine...SO DID JESUS...

Jesus never told anyone he was going to turn his flesh and blood into bread and wine...And nowhere is it suggested that others would be able to do that...Back then people required proof that Jesus was who he said he was...He and the apostle performed miracles all over the place to provide proof...Why didn't Jesus ever just turn a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine into flesh and blood...Before their eyes...

If Jesus had wanted those people to stay he could have done so by doing a few miracles like that...They certainly weren't going to stay from any thing Jesus said...

Gee, I thought it was by eating Jesus you got eternal life.

Or was it by being baptized?

Oh, wait a minute, you have to belong to the Catholic organization and submit to the pope.

No, you have to add good works to Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

Wait...... which is it, really?

So many hoops, so little time.

65And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.”

I think people downplay this verse far too much...Although there was stirring and grumbling in the ranks, they didn't up and walk away until Jesus said this to them...I believe he exposed to them and everyone else that they not only didn't believe in him, they didn't really believe in God the Father either...

Had they believed in God, God would have revealed Jesus to them...IMHO...

The passage has been fully posted for her and emphasized yet she cannot see the spiritual so she claims Jesus kept repeating a ritual which would violate the FOREVER command from God against eating the blood. The carnal mind cannot see the things that are spiritually discerned.
