Todays Cryptogram
SCWDLDYZW XDNLCBP DN RZB LCC YBDQDVZW LC FO Z RDL NTFUOYL CR NLTKP RCB LXO PCTVA. -H.X. ZTKOV
Todays CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
IVE MARRIED A FEW PEOPLE I SHOULDNT HAVE, BUT HAVENT WE ALL? MAMIE VAN DOREN
3 min on my phone. Start with the word LCC.
Im a little slow this morning. Just under 5 minutes, most of which was deciding how to start.
This was what I like about the CGs.... clues like LCC/LC and RZB/RCB. No contractions, no punctuation, no obvious author.
Google search shows 2 more words in the quote, which would be the 7th and 8th in the CG.
You have to dig pretty far down the frequency chart to find the e. You know from the two-letter words that it isnt among the top three.
I think just 4?
Yes, tied for fourth with several others.
Whooo...finally got it.
-PJ
It continues:
YXDWKBOV NXCTWK ZYGTDBO LXODB XOBCON ZVK JDWWDZVN RBCQ RDYLDCV.
I had to create a new association for “G”. Otherwise same key.
Married a few people... nope, just one! 46 years ago. My college sweetheart now goes by the name Paw Paw.
