I did a search. The story is from about July 2018.
Sorry, I wanted to know the machinations that triggered this. A better explanation that follows a coherent timeline. The post on FR seems like a complex rewrite of the original posted in #19.
That’s an amazing story, and one which I don’t have the experience to appreciate fully.
Do you have your family’s land back, more or less, now?
New Mexico is a beautiful region, and you are very fortunate to live and own your own land there. (There are few material things we can own that are as valuable and meaningful as land and free rein upon it...)
But is it safe to say that almost everyone doesnt suck a little? ;)
Silent auction?
Maybe the type of guy that would sign you up for jelly of the month club instead of giving you the pool that you wanted? ;)
Very true, but this would never happen in kalifornia. Here the state would take it and make homeless camps or give it to the illegals.
I am not buying it. Where in Nebraska? What are their names? Where was the auction?
No by line (with the location.). The photo is not captioned and it could be any auction anywhere in the country.
The story is heartening, but I dont think its true.
Yeah, with “Occasionally Attached Cortex” holding the Bill in her mouth
See link at Post #19 for additional details/info.
I dont want to come across as a negative guy. I am sure there is some truth to this, from somewhere. But the entire story is devoid of details that would make this more real.
I hope its true. It just sounds “too good to be true.” But today is another day and I will move on.
I’ve actually had some second thoughts about it as well—both the likelihood of it being true and it being a good thing.
It was supposedly generations back that the land was in the family. So I’m not sure how fair or right or legal (real ‘collusion’) it would be for the other bidders to withhold so as to let some generations’ down buyers undercut the seller getting fair value for it.
And, I doubt the likelihood of that many bidders in unison traveling to make that potentially illegal collusion happen.
Thanks Diana in Wisconsin.
