A selection of World War 2 guns that stayed in the ground for tens of years and now being dug out by Russian enthusiasts. The search for the old guns became very popular in Russia lately, so popular that a law was passed that abolished such kind of searches in Russian forests. Now if you going to be caught with a metal detector you can face charges. Still people go on this treasure hunt as the stock of the metal laying down in the ground since WW2 is immense. In the seventh picture (and others) is a CZ Pistole Model 27. An inexpensive but fine little pistol!

My dad flew B-17s and couldn’t get his hands on souvenirs like Lugers. He had to settle for some knives and a couple CZ27s. One had cracked bakelite grips. The other is stamped with a Luftwaffe emblem.

Maybe they can dig me up some replacement grips!

One of those lugers looks like it could be restored to firing condition. One of the red pistols looks like it was covered in cosmoline. Lucky find!!!

Too bad they weren’t stored properly or they’d be worth something today. I recognized a Couple CZ 27s, a few Walther P-38s, a few Lugers, a Browning Hi Power, several Browning 1922s, several Tokarevs, an Astra 300, a couple Nagant Revolvers, a Walther PP, a French Unique and one or two I wasn’t sure about.

Why in the world would the government pass a law against looking for old weapons?

Illiteracy is taking over. The guns lay in the ground, not laid in the ground.

Treasure digging is still a ongoing thing, we don’t maybe dig out gold medieval treasure and ancient swords but there is plenty for ww2 gear to be found. In Russia a group of “archaeologists” has unearthed another ww2 stash from the deep Russian woods. These are not all from one place but their joint effort this year which they showed off at wikipenza. As you can see Russian forests are still full of German ww2 surprises, after all thousands of people fought on those lands. However you might be surprised what kind of interesting war gear and in what condition they found it there:

For the CZ 27 I’d recommend going on eBay. There is a seller based in the Czech Republic that makes excellent plastic replacement grips for about $30. You can also track down some original grips but those are significantly more expensive. They’re also more prone to cracking.

Thank you!!! The repro grips look identical to original. The wood looks nice too and could be a change of pace. I can’t decide.

I’ll have to spend some time on that site! I need an original stock for a surplus Springfield 03.A3 also that my dad Sporterized back in the 50’s.

I bet I could find one there!!

Thanks again!!
