LAPD Officers in West San Fernando Valley May Have Been Infected by MRSA

"The health, safety, and wellbeing of our Los Angeles Police Department officers is critical and we are ensuring the officers exposed to this disease are cared for," the department said in the statement. "First responders throughout the region and especially here in Los Angeles are constantly responding to incidents that put them at risk of potential exposure to various diseases, and that’s why the Department takes this incident very seriously. All of the work areas that may have been exposed have been disinfected."

It was not immediately clear how the officers came into contact with the bacteria.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) can cause staph infection. It's difficult to treat because of its resistance to some antibiotics.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said staph infections -- including those linked to MRSA -- can spread in hospitals, other healthcare facilities, workplaces and schools. Symptoms include rash, headaches, muscle aches, chills, fever, fatigue, cough, shortness of breath and chest pain.

Probably Trump’s and AG Barr’sfault and not due to illegals there with third world diseases.

Wetbacks are just infecting the Americans that Americans can't be bothered to infect.

If this situation wasn’t so serious it would be laughable how the msm twists themselves into a pretzel to avoid stating the obvious.

Politicians too.

Since it’s L.A. it should be determined how they were exposed before worrying about it.

Combine this with the occurrence of the mumps and measles and the uptick of TV and such.

MRSA is in the community now and almost anyone can come in contact with it. I’ve probably been colonized with it for 30 years and feel fine. There are a lot bigger threats out there

Having seen it more than once in LA, can only say that the perpetrators need to be removed from the civil population.

We have a relative who contracted in while in the hospital for another illness. She is in her 80’s and it has ruined what's left of her life, and it's a problem for her husband and their adopted son who is a teenager. While we can't be absolutely sure of the genesis of this infection, it is an undeniable fact that the unfettered illegal immigration into this country is bring back diseases we had eradicated decades ago. And yet the RAT Party chooses to obstruct needed legislation that would protect the health of our citizens, because of their inane desire to regain control of our government. Breaking a few eggs, has now devolved into "unfortunate casualties" in the political war we're engaged in.

I’m sorry for your unfortunate experience. Any staph infection can be rough in an elderly patient. Illegals do bring in a lot of diseases but MRSA is homegrown. The police were as likely to get it from the local gym as anywhere else. I’d be a lot more worried about the resistant strains of TB and other nice bugs the illegals bring us.

Go into any hospital and you’ll come in contact with it.

My allergist told me that 1 in 4 people is walking around carrying it.

It’s everywhere.

This is not that big a deal. 1% of the population are MRSA carriers. That means virtually everyone that goes out in public is going to be exposed to it. Pushing a grocery cart at the supermarket unless you disinfect the thing will almost for sure get you exposed. Merely touching a surface touched by someone who is colonized will expose you. Sitting on a public bathroom seat, the same...

Vagrants. They have been warning cops out here for at least ten years that the “homeless” are a threat for MRSA.
