Sanders calls for breaking up big agriculture monopolies
Associated Press ^ | May 5, 2019 | Alexandra Jaffe

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Sunday proposed a sweeping agriculture and rural investment plan to break up big agriculture monopolies and shift farm subsidies toward small family farmers.

“I think a farmer that produces the food we eat may be almost as important as some crook on Wall Street who destroys the economy,” Sanders said during a campaign event in Osage, a town of fewer than 4,000 people. “Those of us who come from rural America have nothing to be ashamed about, and the time is long overdue for us to stand up and fight for our way of life.”

Sanders’ plan expands on themes that have been central to his presidential campaign in Iowa since the start, including his emphasis on rural America and pledge to take on and break up big corporations.

During his Sunday speech, Sanders outlined the dire circumstances confronting rural America — population decline, school and hospital closures and rising addiction and suicide rates in many rural counties nationwide — as the impetus for his policy.

His plan includes a number of antitrust proposals, including breaking up existing agriculture monopolies and placing a moratorium on future mergers by big agriculture companies. He would also ban “vertically integrated” agribusinesses — companies that control multiple levels of production and processing of a product. …

Comrade Bernie’s 5-Year Plan and Great Leap Forward are next.

“Breadlines for my friends!” exclaims the nutbag Socialist who combs his hair with a balloon.

I do not have a problem with breaking up monopolies but Sanders is a socialist/communist. How does that work? He wants government to control everything but farming???

Crazy Sanders needs to grow up, get productive skills, and create value somewhere instead of ranting about tearing down and taking from others.

”… and shift farm subsidies [??? emphasis added] toward small family farmers."
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

When the corrupt feds buy votes by giving constitutionally indefensible farm subsidies to agricultural monopolies, the hypocritical feds are helping to foster such monopolies imo.

In other words, the referenced Democrat targeting the Oval Office wants to rescue small farmers from a “monopoly crisis” (my term) that corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification career lawmakers have helped to create imo.

Patriots need to elect a new patriot Congress in the 2020 elections that will not only promise to support PDJT’s vision for MAGA, but will also promise to work with PDJT to surrender state powers that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds have stolen from the states back to the states.

Remember in November 2020!

MAGA!

There are no “monopolies.”

More nonsense.

US Agriculture is one of the things in which the US possess a big trade advantage.

Who then will operate the grain collection and export systems to move all those soybeans and corn out of the country?

His plan calls for a shift from the current farm subsidy system toward a “parity system,” which means “setting price floors and matching supply with demand so farmers are guaranteed the cost of production and family living expenses.”

The current "farm subsidy system" is subsidized crop insurance, but Bernie probably doesn't know that. He seems to want to bring back the AAA and production controls. The man is beyond stupid. He apparently has a collection of agitprop comic books from the 1930's and hasn't learned anything since.

Notice the whole “shifting subsidies” bit.

Also notice that he fails to name a single monopoly.

Well. The agriculture subsidies game is a complete racket. It’s made it so only huge farms can really make it. And they get gigantic amounts of subsidies (tax dollars) to boot.
Instead of comrade Bernies plan to “punish the rich” lets just quit the subsidy game altogether.

How many homes does Bernie have? Why does he need more than one? He should let illegal Mexicans use the extra homes since he thinks illegals should come on in!
